I've stayed at this property twice, here's my experience... Overall: As a diamond member, business traveler, and diehard Hilton loyalist, I try to avoid this property. If you are a vacation traveler looking for a convenient overnight close to the airport, this isn't a bad property. However, there are more modern and better-appointed properties in the area more suited for business travelers. The pros: + Clean rooms, spacious, balconies, generally quiet. + Ample transportation to the airport via shuttles. + Close to the airport. + Generally lower price points. + Comfortable beds. The cons: - Very dated, I'd estimate the last update was in the 90's - Per the last point, room furniture is worn, frumpy, unattractive. - The out-of-date rooms have maintenance issues... during my last stay I could not get the shower temperature down to a comfortable temp no matter what I tried. There were signs of past water leaks in the ceiling near the bathroom vanity (I was on the top floor). - Very few balconies afford even a somewhat attractive view. - Breakfast is expensive! I paid $49 for eggs, protein, toast, short stack of pancakes and a coffee. $49 is a LOT for a basic breakfast. The coffee alone was $5 and 2 pancakes were $11 - During the cruise season, there are SO MANY cruise passengers in the lobby and throughout the property. It seems like chaos if you're not ready for it. Good business for the hotel but may not be convenient or attractive for a business traveler. * Cruise transport busses do not turn off their engines, ignoring the 5-minute idle rule. I walked by a bus in the back lot twice as it was waiting to load passengers, both times passing through the exhaust which was pointing toward the marked pedestrian walkway. I actually had to remind the driver that he was totally ignoring the idle time rules, and he promptly turned off the engine. DO NOT IDLE DIESEL ENGINES.

It has potential, but the experience doesn’t match what’s presented. The biggest issue is the heating system. There’s a clear illusion of warmth throughout the building warm air hits you when you first enter common areas, which gives the impression the hotel is well heated. But inside the room, the heater does not function as expected. The unit appears to work, the controls light up, and staff will even send an “engineer,” but nothing meaningfully changes. It feels more like a performance than a fix. The hotel tries to appear decent, but everything is carefully orchestrated to mislead. The moment you walk in, a blast of warm air hits your face, making the building feel inviting. It’s pleasant at first, but this is purely illusion calculated to make you think the hotel is comfortable before you experience the reality. At check in, the older front desk lady immediately overstepped, asking questions that weren’t her business, testing and creating tension. She tried to assert control unnecessarily. At one point, she gave me a warm, fresh cookie, which was nice, but it felt almost like a calculated distraction from the discomfort and the cold reality waiting in the room. Once in the room, the heater revealed the truth. Only one side produced heat, the rest blew cold air like a fan. When I called for assistance, they sent someone claiming to be an “engineer,” who opened the heater, moved a few parts, and left the room exactly as cold as before. This was a performance, not a repair. Later, when I called again and asked directly if the heater actually worked, staff could not give a clear answer. What’s especially telling is that the room temperature slowly began to rise near checkout time, not during the night when heat was actually needed. That alone says a lot. It suggests the heat is centrally managed in a way that creates the appearance of comfort without actually prioritizing guest experience. To stay warm, I had to block parts of the unit with towels just to stop cold air from blowing. Even beyond the room, the hotel does not disclose the $40 overnight parking fee upfront. Guests only learn about it after arrival, another deliberate attempt to extract more while maintaining the illusion of transparency. To be fair: * The hotel isn’t terrible * It’s not the worst stay I’ve had * Coffee nearby was good * Some staff were genuinely polite But I wouldn’t stay here again. The overall feeling is that this place is run cheaply while trying to look polished. There’s warmth but it’s conditional. Comfort but only at certain times. Service but surface level. It’s fine for a short stay if expectations are low.

I stayed at this hotel for just one night last month, and it was a terrible experience. I had been studying in WA and was returning to Japan after my graduation, so I chose this hotel because it was close to the airport. Since I had already moved out of my apartment, I was traveling with four large suitcases and a pair of ski equipment. Around 10 p.m., I received my room key at the front desk and went to my room. Unfortunately, I accidentally locked myself out while bringing my luggage inside and had to go back to the front desk to ask for a spare key. However, the spare key they gave me did not work at all. When I returned to the front desk, the staff repeatedly insisted, “This key should work,” and refused to take my concern seriously. I was sent back and forth three times, carrying heavy luggage, and was not helped until I finally showed them a video proving the key did not open the door. It turned out that the staff had given me the wrong room key, apparently confusing me with another guest. I believe this mistake may have happened because I am Japanese and was incorrectly assumed to be someone else. As a result, I was forced to walk between my room and the front desk five times, exhausted, late at night, with no proper apology. At the very least, they should have confirmed my name or room number before issuing a spare key. The morning staff seemed more professional, but the nighttime front desk service was extremely disappointing and felt discriminatory. I would not recommend this hotel, especially to international travelers or anyone with heavy luggage.

First there are good things about this hotel: the room is spacious and quiet. Breakfast is quite nice (if you have a voucher). I want to point out that they are pretty understaffed given the amount of customers they take. Maybe it’s just unfortunate timing for me (12am midnight on a Sunday), but when I arrived at the airport and was waiting for shuttles, all other shuttles (run for hotels around the area) passed by at least TWICE while the double tree one didn’t show up once. And when it finally showed up, I was told there’s no seat anymore… (I was wait in at island 3, BE SURE to walk further and wait at island 1, as passengers at island 1 might take up all seats) I had to wait another 20 min for a spot in the shuttle. When I finally arrived the hotel, I waited another good 20min to check in. Only two staff were working and there was a long line. So basically, I spent one hour getting from baggage claim to my hotel room… which was beyond my imagination I would avoid this place if I have to stay overnight again, for my own sanity. They take a lot of customers but they don’t have enough staff

Let’s start with the positives. This DoubleTree is very conveniently located near the Seattle airport, which is great if your goal is to spend as little time in the building as possible. This hotel is OLD. Not charmingly old. Not historic old. More like “has survived several administrations and at least one lava lamp phase” old. For a property with a conference center, it feels frozen in time, and not in a fun retro way. More in a “when was the last renovation, 1998?” way. I was “upgraded” to the penthouse level in the tower, which sounds exciting until you open the door and are greeted by a musty smell that suggests the room has been sealed since dial-up internet was popular. The tower itself feels like a vertical museum of outdated hotel design. The shower deserves its own paragraph. The handle required the precision and patience of cracking a bank vault. After several minutes of careful turning, slight backtracking, and whispered encouragement, I was rewarded with lukewarm water. Not hot. Not cold. Just aggressively mediocre. Breakfast hours deserve an honorable mention. They stop at 9:00AM. Yes, 9:00AM. At an airport hotel. With a conference center. Apparently conferences are expected to wrap up before most people have finished their first cup of coffee. To finish the experience on a high note, I was double-charged for parking. This was resolved only after contacting the Hilton service desk, because apparently the hotel and its billing system are just as disconnected as the decor. Between the aging rooms, questionable “upgrades,” plumbing puzzles, early-cutoff breakfast, and billing issues, I would not recommend staying here. The cookie might be warm, but everything else desperately needs an update.
