Background: We stay maybe 50 nights a year at properties (mostly Hilton) for business and vacation.
Stay: We booked a 2 bedroom unit for 6 people for 2 nights & a 1 bedroom unit for a 3rd night as our friends were leaving early.
THE GOOD:
-Great price for the room, which was spacious, mostly clean, and fit our 6 person group.
-Some (but not all) helpful and friendly staff: the lady who handled our check in was super welcoming, very helpful, and went the extra mile for us. We had asked her if we could just keep the 2 bedroom for our 3rd night so we don’t need to move rooms, I even mentioned that I had Diamond status, if that helps. She said “oh I would try to help you even if you were not Diamond”, and was able to help us. The man at the concierge was also super nice and helpful. The man taking our order at the dining place was nice too and trying his best although mentioned that they were understaffed and that wasn’t his usual job.
-all inclusive resort: so much to do (mini golf, swimming, pickleball, tennis, ping pong, board games, art sessions for kids, etc.) and all included in the resort fees
THE BAD:
-someone took our reserved parking and even after an hour, we didn’t get any updates from security about resolving the issue
-food took 40 mins even though we were the only ones waiting for our orders (a couple of burgers, philly cheesesteaks, fish and chips, and a wrap shouldn’t take more than 20 mins)
-the sofabed was gross: yellow stains and dirty
THE UGLY:
-the other person at the check in (a man, maybe supervisor, beside the lady doing my check in) was very unhelpful, rude, and absolutely wrong about policies and facts. When I asked if I could just keep the 2 bedroom for the 3rd night, he insisted that they couldn’t do anything about it unless I paid extra and that they would lose their jobs if they even tried. (I know for a fact, based on my previous stays at other hotels and even the other reviews on this specific hotel, that complimentary upgrades are always possible). The lady handling my check in checked the system and lo and behold, the system gave her the option to upgrade our 3rd night so we could keep the same room at no extra cost. After figuring out the rooms, she asked for payment for the room rates upfront. I asked if I could pay upon check out as I wanted to put the charges dated in 2026 on my card and I remember some of my other Hilton stays let me do that. She said it was policy, so left it at that. I asked if that was specific to HVC properties or just this one? The guy beside her butted in rudely again and said that it was not just this property but all hotels do that. I know for a fact, based on my other Hilton stays, that other hotels absolutely let folks settle the room rate upon check out. A person that was that rude, that unhelpful, and that ignorant about how things work should have no place in the hospitality industry - what a liability!
