Our recent stay at this Doubletree was excellent because of the service provided by Terry. He was extremely helpful in addressing the questions we had and resolved everything to our satisfaction. His help and courteous manner made our stay worthwhile. Thank you Terry.
This is our fourth or fifth year staying here for AuthorCon. Terry checked us in and was welcoming from the beginning. Everyone on their team embraces Scares that Cares and they go all out to be welcoming of the convention.
In previous years the drinks were really expensive, but we found them more reasonably priced this year. The food tends to be expensive for what you get. The hotel rooms could use some updating, especially the bathrooms. The lobby area, bar, cafe and convention areas are nice.
Its furthest away from the historical areas, but is perfect if you are specifically going to Busch Gardens. There are a few good restaurants close by, too.

I stayed for the Scares that Care convention in February. So this was off season. The hotel is conveniently located next to Busch Gardens. The rooms are clean. The convention space is enormous. The hotel is a lot bigger than it looks. There is an indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The game room is really lacking on 3 or 4 machines. The hotel has several restaurants, but I didn't eat at any of them. Varities of Food is a walkable distance away. The only knock I have with the staying there was that you can hear everything going on in the hallway because of the space at the bottom of the doors. I could see this being a problem if you retire early and kids are running around slamming doors late. Other than that it was an excellent experience staying there.

Fantastic visit through and through. The breakfast buffet has a nice variety, rooms were clean, and best of all were the staff. Every single employee I encountered was friendly and helpful, and made my stay exceptional.

This is a huge hotel, and the lobby is really nice and smells like wonderful men’s cologne! They do not have a sauna or hot tub, and their indoor and outdoor pools are connected where you can swim under this little area, which would be neat in the summer, but not what you might be thinking when told there is an indoor pool during cold weather. The toilet in our bathroom was very low like a child’s toilet and would really not work for certain populations, such as someone older who might have difficulty with that. Not a fan. The trashcan in our room was divided into two small triangles (????), yet we were given a giant bag that doesn’t fit in the trash can or in either triangle so…yeah. Pointless. And the second time they gave us a bag, it was ripped at the bottom. As for the beds, the mattresses are not super soft. I know that preferences very much vary on this. The pillows are the types that squish so much that your head is actually flat on the bed. Ugh. And the sheets are not stiff, but they are textured, so if you have sensitive skin like me, they feel incredibly scratchy. The blanket they provide (if you ask for one) is not soft either. The staff was incredibly friendly! There is a paid breakfast only, which we never took part in. There was a pool table you could pay for and some arcade games, which is neat! They have a restaurant on the inside that you can also see listed as its own separate listing on Google (forgot the name). Aside from the big table near a fireplace, the rest of it is not cozy at all. We never ate there, but we did get some drinks, and they had some really cool Valentine’s Day special martinis for $7, such as a strawberry shortcake martini! Mmmm and they were able to do a chocolate and white chocolate martini. (They don’t have Godivas, though, which is my favorite.). The curtains were good at blocking out light. Great location!
