    Chose this Hampton Inn over a Tru at same exit thinking it would be a slight upgrade and better breakfast for an additional $14. Hotel is dumpy and in poor shape. Placed in a 1st floor room as one of the elevators was out of order. It’s room given wan’t cleaned yet and it was 6 PM. 2nd room bathroom counter was dirty, wiped bathroom floor with bathmat in the morning and it turned brown. Pool was dirty, Ice machine was down. I’m a Hilton Diamond member and I don’t comment enough about the great hotels I stay in but people need to be aware sometime it’s better to go with the less frills newer hotel next door!

    I wish I could give a better review, as the hotel was pretty standard for a Hampton Inn property, however, we were told that the pet fee was $35 when we checked in. Very tired from a 6 hour ride, we simply signed the boilerplate form that was shoved in front of us, not seeing that the fee was $75, not the $35 we were told. As a Silver member who has spent more than a dozen nights in Hampton Inns across the country in the past 6 weeks, I expected a better response, even a courtesy discount. Nope, not at all. If you are traveling with a pet, you should probably look elsewhere than at this particular Hampton Inn.

    During a dangerous winter storm when travelers are at their most vulnerable, I expect transparency and integrity. Unfortunately, this establishment chose profit over honor. When scouting for a safe place to stay, the front desk employee explicitly claimed that every other hotel in the area was fully booked except for them. This was a blatant lie intended to pressure us into a booking. We chose to leave and immediately found superior accommodations nearby that were not only available but far more welcoming. In times of crisis, a business should prioritize the safety of the community, not use fear-based sales tactics to fill rooms. If you value honesty and genuine hospitality—especially during a storm—look elsewhere. There are far more honorable competitors in Roanoke that won’t play games with your safety for a few bucks.
