My biggest complaint was the unexpected requirement of paid parking in a shockingly low parking garage beneath the hotel. Rooms were clean and very spacious. Staff was friendly. Location was alright, right on the edge of downtown, next to some pay to park car lots and dumpsters.

Great hotel in a convenient location. The manager was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious- especially the great ground coffee and warm cinnamon rolls. Definitely will stay here for our next visit.

My partner and I stayed 2 nights. The first night was good except the carpet had debris on it and some sticky stuff on a table. The 2nd morning we went down to the breakfast and a different lady was working than the day before. The lady assumed I was not a guest because my coat had stains on it and started questioning if I was a guest and room number. There was a man in there in his pajamas also. My partner came down to join me then the staff started questioning her also. My partner was wearing a dress with a cute over sweater so I know that my stained coat had nothing to do with it and it was probably our lgbtq orientation that caused her to discriminate against us. I have a booking in a week through priceline that I hope I can get refunded so I can stay somewhere the staff don't discriminate against transgender individuals. It was a huge disappointment, especially for the Richmond area. My autistic transgender partner went directly out the door without breakfast or coffee and the breakfast was the reason we had opted for this hotel. In a hotel where the key card is required for even the elevator they must do a horrible job with security if they feel not 1 but 2 people were able to sneak in. The guy working the front desk was polite and informative as to when the boss would be back. My stained coat she was judging was a Nike one worn to the Olympics 3 seasons ago which has more value than a year of her pay.

Check in took too long as no one was around lobby. Bed was filthy and the phone to call front desk for assistance with the issue just beeped like out of service (and when mentioned at checkout, the not so friendly clerk said, oh, it’s zero, not the Front Desk button). Breakfast was good with good coffee thankfully but would probably stay elsewhere next time. Definitely didn’t feel like our business was appreciated.

“Holiday Inn Downtown Richmond: Don’t Judge a Hotel by Its Hallway.” Listen… the outside, the hallways, and the common areas may give you “Is this the right place?” energy, but the rooms? The rooms are serving luxury condo in downtown Florida vibes. I’m genuinely thrilled I did NOT drop $400 a night down the street, because how much time do you really spend in the lobby anyway? My room came with something I’ve only ever had in my expensive Florida condo: 👉 ELECTRIC SHADES. THREE OF THEM. Not the broken mystery blinds you tug on and pray about. Oh no. These babies glide like butter. And the blackout shade? REMOTE. CONTROLLED. I’ve never felt more powerful in my life. One click and the room goes full vampire mode. The bed is insanely comfortable, the remodel is spotless, and the whole experience screams “hidden gem run by an owner who actually cares.” For real — don’t let the hallways fool you. The rooms are elite. I’m absolutely staying here again.
