Nice hotel near base. It had everything we needed. Breakfast was good and got us off to a good start. Everyone that works here is very pleasant and professional.

I am honestly surprised that Hilton allows their name on this property. It's a mess. The people are good though. That's the one saving grace.

Awesome location, the staff are TERRIFIC! I have stayed at many high end hotels and didn’t receive this level of service. We were greeted when we arrived, told where the elevators, gym? And laundry were located. Told about the breakfast that is included in the stay. We checked out promptly at 6:00 AM on Sunday and breakfast was out. I cannot remember the last time we left a hotel at 6:00 AM and breakfast was ready. Extra stars to the staff for this. We will definitely stay here again. The only thing I would say is bring your own pillows as the ones in the room are small like throw pillows. The room was clean, and the housekeeper gave me extra towels with a smile. Great experience!

Despite some of the comments I’m reading here, I have to say that I liked this hotel. Though they are undergoing renovations and there were a lot of people staying here that weekend, the place seemed well-run. The front desk staff all appeared happy and extended their joy through kindness and professionalism. I wish I had caught the name of the gentleman who checked me in, he was extremely professional and friendly. He apologized for the inconvenience of the renovation and explained everything quickly and efficiently. Yes, the property is a little old and in need of repair, but that’s exactly why the renovation is happening. I have no complaints about how they managed it. From the cleanliness of the room to the free breakfast, not to mention the staff, my stay was seamless and pleasant. I’d be happy to choose this location again if I’m ever in Norfolk.

I normally don’t write reviews because I understand how much impact they can have on a business, but my experience at the Hampton Inn Norfolk Naval Base was so unacceptable that it absolutely warrants one. This was, without question, the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had. From the moment I checked in, nothing resembled the standards I’ve come to expect from Hilton properties. The staff did not follow the normal Hilton check-in processes, and the overall feel of the hotel was rundown, disorganized, and unsafe. The room itself was in shocking condition. The smoke detector was literally wrapped in cellophane — the only possible reason being to prevent it from going off. That alone is a glaring safety hazard and completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, when I got into bed, the bedding was still damp and carried a heavy bleach smell, suggesting that it had been “cleaned” but not dried before being put back on. Lying down in wet sheets is not only uncomfortable but raises serious questions about cleanliness and sanitation practices. The overall condition of the hotel was rundown and neglected. The hallways, common areas, and room all gave off the appearance of being poorly maintained. Instead of feeling like I was in a safe and welcoming Hilton property, it felt like I had walked into an unsafe environment where guest comfort and safety were clearly not a priority. This stay has made me lose confidence in this property, and it reflects very poorly on the Hilton brand. I would strongly caution anyone considering staying here to look at other options in the area. The unsafe conditions, lack of basic standards, and overall neglect of the property are simply not acceptable.
