  To start, I wrongly selected a 1-King no-Pet room on line, but added a remark that we had a dog. When I arrived, they said I had to pay a $20 upgrade fee to get a 2-queen Pet-OK room. OK. I reminded the manager that I had added the note, and added it again when I did the pre-check in the day prior. The manager said I could write anything in those blocks...but finally convinced me...we went to the "upgraded" and more costly room (with a promised $30 pet fee to come). Someone could have called or emailed me. We walked in to a stifling musty smell that kicked off an allergy attack and dive for an inhaler. The room smelled like a dump. Well... the sheets were clean, but there was not a drop of hot water ever. I should also mention that the outside door at the back of the hotel would not close and latch and provided no security, even to a mouse. This hotel is a blight on the reputation of Best Western, which we have frequented for many years all around the US. There was no "Best" in Emporia. JM

  The room was clean, quiet & comfortable, perfect for an overnight stay while travelling. The staff were friendly and helpful. I'll stay there again on future trips.

  We travel to Florida annually for winter and stay overnight in Emporia, VA. This was our first time staying at the Best Western in Emporia, VA. Our room was not the best. There was a hole in the carpet that had been roughly patched. The toilet was dirty. There was a crack in the ceiling from a water leak. Overall the room desperately needed a complete makeover. The common areas were pleasant enough and so was the exterior of the hotel. But the rooms need work. The included breakfast was not of the best quality or selection.

  Omg this was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. My bf and I stopped here along our road trip after driving for 10 hrs. Definitely more of a MOTEL than hotel. First of all, all the non smoking rooms smelled like smoke, then there were bugs and spiders crawling all over the curtains. There were spider webs and dead roaches everywhere. The sheets felt damp and were stained with yellow and black stains. It looked like ear wax and mascara. I slept on top of the sheets with multiple layers on and when I woke up and started to change my clothes, there were black specs of like, bug shell all over my skin… in my bra even. It was the most disgusting experience I’ve ever had. If I could give 0 stars, I would. How is this place even still operating? HORID!!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!! I wish I would have slept in my car instead.
