We stay here a few times a year. Perfect place for our travels. We'll kept facility. Front desk is always polite and helpful. Just enough amenities to my liking. Service is always clean, almost impeccable. Nice, quiet location, too. I like that.

We stayed here during parents weekend, where the hotel prices are exorbitant to the tune of $1300 for the weekend! The hotel is fully renovated, and my review is solely based on the lack of customer service we received based on our stay where we experienced multiple issues. We arrived on Friday evening to an air conditioning that was making loud noises if I had to describe it, it sounded like an airplane engine. I immediately called the front desk and was told that due to parents weekend there were no other rooms available and we had no choice but to deal with it until they could look at it in the morning. They did credit us $138. That night we had to sleep with no air-conditioning on as it was too noisy for sleeping purposes and it was a very warm evening so it was quite an uncomfortable night of sleeping. The next morning, I also realized that refrigerator was making a noise as well and that had to be unplugged as the noise was a constant buzzing sound. On the way out that morning I told them of the refrigerator also and they said they would have somebody look at it along with the air conditioning. Upon returning that evening as again, we were there for parents weekend so we were gone all day we realized the air-conditioning had not been fixed and the refrigerator was still unplugged. I called to ask why the air-conditioning had not been fixed and I was told that they did not come in our room because we had left the privacy sign on. At no point did they think to call us to ask us if they could go in the room due to our privacy, sign being on, and that was an oversight For us, but we did not think it would hinder them from working on the air conditioning. We slept for the second night with no air conditioning on again It was a very warm evening and we had a second night of a very uncomfortable sleep. That evening we also noticed what was dead bugs on the ceiling and the wall Which was just the icing on the cake to an already very terrible hotel stay that we now paid practically $600 a night for and got very minimum sleep. I reached out to the GM and explained to her my issues and she insisted that there was nothing she could do outside of offering IHG points and after asking for my matter to be escalated she gave us $100 for what we experienced and insinuated that we needed to bring the bug situation to her attention earlier. Not sure what that had to do with anything as like I said we were at parents weekend and gone for most of the day and the dead bug did not just appear there. It was smeared on the wall, so it had been there the entire time of our stay. I then spoke to case manager and a senior case manager and was told that they felt that the compensation of $250 was appropriate for all we had experienced, which is honestly mind blowing and/or we did not fully read or comprehend all that we had experienced. I did request that he escalated my concerns however he has yet to return my email. This was my first stay (and my last) at their hotel, and how they handled the situation I felt was very poor and what was offered due to all that we experience was actually quite insulting. This hotel stay did not equate to a $1000. I realize that the prices were gouged due to parents weekends, but ultimately the bottom line is that my experience/ Non-sleep/unsanitary condition does not equate to a hotel stay of that caliber and felt that the prices should have been reflected of what I experienced, which would be a more normal rate, which is roughly probably $150 at night on a non-parents week. this was our first stay at this hotel and they will not get my business again due to the fact that they did not seem to think what I experienced warranted more than their compensation of $250. The smeared dead bug on the wall alone, warranted a full compensation in my book and another hotel chain would’ve definitely made sure that I was a much happier customer, especially being a first-time customer and would have done more to make sure I would be a returning customer. Be better than this IHG!

This was our first stay at this property, though we were expecting to stay more often as our daughter started college nearby. We stay in IHG properties all the time. This was a bad experience and it goes deeper than just the specifics mentioned below. It’s a terrible culture (presumably flowing down from mgt) at this hotel where nobody takes responsibility for anything and everyone blames everyone else for the problems. When we arrived to our room, the air in the room was blowing, but not cooling. I don’t like a freezing room, but not having air on at all wasn’t a good way to arrive on a warm day. The safe in the room was already locked and the keypad didn’t work, probably because the batteries were dead. Since the safe wasn’t bolted down, I asked at the front desk if we could get another one. The front desk staff person said we can send maintenance tomorrow. I asked if we could swap a safe with another room since there were lots of other open rooms and we had to go out. The response was “ Oh no, we can’t move a safe”. I reminded them it wasn’t bolted down asked again if they could just help solve the problem. They said “we can’t, we’d get in trouble.” Apparently maintenance came the next day and opened the safe, except the safe still didn’t work. The keypad was dead. When I mention this to the front desk, the same person said, “but it worked for the maintenance guy”. Ugh. For breakfast, I came down about 10 minutes before breakfast ended. A good bit of the food was empty already. I asked if they had any biscuits, which my wife wanted. And the attendant said “No, I can’t make any more biscuits”. I said please, breakfast isn’t over. With attitude she said “If I did, ‘they’d’ have my head.” The breakfasts at Holiday Inn expresses have become poor enough. Being so cheap to cut off food early is an insult. Right after that, I saw a dad ask for some food (eggs) for his young son who was with him. She gave him a similar answer. He skulked away. The next day on Sunday at 9:35 AM one of the staff was vacuuming outside our door as I went down for breakfast. After I ate, she was downstairs vacuuming the hallway outside other rooms. I asked do you always vacuum Sunday morning in front of doors with the do not disturb tags on them. She said, “Yes, I only work from 9 am -1 pm, as if that was the appropriate answer. I said people may be sleeping, as my wife was. She scoffed at me, while she was also holding her phone blaring in the air with music blaring through the speaker really loud so she could hear it over the vacuum. (I’m not making this up) And then she said, “ if you think this is a problem, from what I heard was going on here last night there were people running around and making a lot of noise.” Really good answer. Clearly, this is a property where the customers don’t matter much. The staff are not empowered to solve problems, shift, responsibility to others whenever they can and live in fear that they might violate management’s picayune rules. That’s a pretty unhealthy culture. IHG, Sap hotels and property manager Mayra Silva have some corrective work to do.

TVs didn’t work, lady at front desk wouldn’t allow us to have dinner in the lobby area when we got there at 8pm and ordered door dash. Said the lobby closed at 9. College town and would even allow us to watch college doorbell on our phones and eat dinner in fellowship with our 12 paying travel ball families. Never had an experience like it.

If you are traveling with a group (baseball team) I don't recommend staying here. We came in from the pouring rain and ordered food. We were kicked out of the lobby area at 9pm. Most people had food delivered at 8:45 and they kicked us out in the middle of eating our food. The pool doesn't close until 10 so why does the lobby close at 9? I have never been kicked out of a lobby area at any hotel. We were sitting at tables chatting. We were not bring loud. As a travel sport parent we travel ALL the time and enjoy getting together with the other parents. Holiday Inn Express will not be getting anymore of our money.
