We were in the area visiting our daughter for her birthday. We tried to find a more affordable option so we chose a weekend without a VT football game. It still seems like we overpaid for the quality of the rooms and the facilities. The front desk woman was very hospitable and incredibly helpful.
Our 10 year old was bummed when we assessed the pool and decided it probably wouldn’t be a good idea for him to swim. It definitely smelled like it had a lot of chlorine but the water wasn’t moving very much, which is a concern. It does look like they updated the pool when looking at older photos and it appears improved.
The rooms were 3-star clean. The filter on the in room AC was pretty dirty and there was a layer of dust on surfaces that might not get attention during routine cleaning. We usually bring sanitizing cleaner when staying at hotels and during my initial pass, the white towel became pretty dirty…mostly because of the dust. The desk and dresser top had what appeared to be stuck on food or sauce that required some extra time to get clean. The bathtub had some mold/mildew spots which is probably because the fan isn’t very strong. The beds were pretty firm but overall they were suitable.
We had a third floor view of a walking bridge, train tracks and a drain/leach basin that is fenced off. The hotel is located near a Walmart and many restaurants.
I assessed the ice machines and saw that it looked neglected so we chose not to utilize it. The bartender was very nice and helpful each day I came to ask him for a cup of ice.
I walked down the back stairs to go to the front desk and had to cut through the conference/event rooms. They seemed to be using them for storage because they were pretty disorganized.
The prices were inflated even though it was not a VT football weekend nor a parent’s weekend and $175 a night was not worth it. Currently, it appears the rate with taxes is $85/night for a weekend and that seems to better represent a rate for an establishment needing this level of attention from corporate.

One of the better Holiday Inn’s that I’ve stayed in recently. Rooms are clean, staff is nice and helpful, and location is quieter than those closer to the highway. It also stayed quiet in the hotel. Only thing that was different than most Holiday Inn’s was paying for breakfast- but if you do it when booking you don’t pay ‘full price’ ($4 total extra for me)and the food is a bit better than the free ones I’m used to. This one is on our list of Holiday Inn’s where we will return!
