While the location was great, very close to the train station where I had to pick up my sister and we had a planned day together. When I got to the receptionist desk, I went through the routine procedures. Once given my key, I went to the room which was located on the first floor in a back corner near the laundry and some outside double doors. I called to the front desk and asked if there was another room available and the receptionist said, that is the room you chose (meaning the type) and said there was not another room like that available. Unfortunately, I acquiesced because we had dinner reservation and needed to get dressed. The next morning, while showering, I saw a roach crawling on the bathroom floor. We checked out immediately and left the key on the desk, as there was no one there to even share the concern. Stay in Arlington or definitely not here.

Haven’t stayed here lately because I’m local. But I hear great things about it!!!!! They are near the King Street Metro which is a block away and the quickest way to get to Washington DC. If you are from out of town and your friends and/or family are meeting you they can easily find you. Plenty of restaurants nearby (if they’re open) or go straight down King Street (east) to the river for anything you might be looking for. Shopping galore!!! Be sure and stop on every block and look around for the hidden gems. There is something fun and special on every block. And ATTENTION ladies and gentlemen!!! If you get stuck out of town and need to get your hair done go to Sugar House Day Spa and Salon. A block off King and Washington Streets. Near the excellent Ross on Washington Street. I forget the address - you can ask someone or google it. My favorite stylist is Nadia - a true genius for color and everything else. She will fit you in if at all possible. The shampoo ladies are the best also especially Morena and Maria. Everything there is top shelf and the absolute best you will find anywhere. They also do massages and all kinds of relaxing things. If you don’t want to walk there are free buses until at least midnight. One is the King Street Trolley which is easily identifiable. The other free bus is the Alexandria Dash Bus. It has been free since Covid. Some people don’t know that. Usually the Trolley and the Dash bus are at the same stop but not always! Even though I am local and know this I get confused. The bus stop for the Dash has a blue sign and the trolley has a yellow and brown sign. Even if you miss the bus it’s only a twenty minute walk east to the river. Most of the restaurants are down by the river and are open late. Definitely check out Chadwick’s since I believe it has a full menu until at least 1am even during the week! A block from the water and lots of lively fun. I didn’t really mean to write a review of Alexandria but I got carried away. It is a beautiful historic city and very very safe. There is hardly any crime and there is a wonderful police force. They absolutely never ever bother anyone. They are there in a flash if you need them though. Anyway back to the wonderful Hampton Inn on King Street. The nice lady at the desk named Betty (didn’t actually talk to her - this was on her name tag) let me use the ladies room at about 11pm. I was eating at a nearby restaurant (not naming names - they are usually absolutely wonderful to me) and they messed up my order and they did fix it but it took an extra half an hour and they were closing and I missed the bus and they weren’t pleased that I said I needed the bathroom so I paid my check and left. I did tell them that it wasn’t my fault I was still there at closing time. I tried to go into Bob and Edith’s which I thought was open 24 hours but not anymore. Haha. Anyway the lovely kind sweet nice Betty let me use the restroom in the hotel. She didn’t even ask for an explanation. I would give the Hampton Inn 100 STARS for that alone. I had to walk home over an hour so Ms Betty really helped me more than she will ever know. Thank you Hampton Inn for hiring such a kind and helpful person.

I can’t say enough about how great this hotel is. It exceeded our expectations in every way. Fantastic location that’s walkable to awesome shops and restaurants on King St, garage parking for $20/night, modern room that was very clean, and staff that was just the greatest. I had a family medical emergency and we had to check out at 4pm a day early. Betty was very understanding and didn’t charge us for the night we missed. To add to my stress, we left in such a hurry that I left a couple pieces of clothing in the room. The wonderful housekeeper reported it to Betty who called me immediately, and she kept them for me to get the next day. We will definitely do another stay at this Hampton Inn!
