The Tabernacle is very beautiful and the acoustics are fascinating. They dropped a straight pin and you could hear it all the in the back of the Tabernacle with out a mic.

Amazing pioneer era building. Be aware that during most performances the temperature gets quite warm.

I visited the Salt Lake City Tabernacle specifically to experience the music and choir, and it turned out to be far more powerful than I expected. The Tabernacle is not just a historic building; it is the home of the world-renowned The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, and you can feel that legacy the moment the performance begins. I attended one of their live sessions, where the choir performs as part of their long-running program that has been running for decades and is open to the public. What stood out immediately was the sound. The acoustics inside the Tabernacle are extraordinary; even the smallest sound carries clearly across the hall. When the choir began singing, the combination of hundreds of voices along with the massive pipe organ created an experience that was both powerful and deeply calming at the same time. Even though I am not a Christian, the experience felt universal. The music did not feel like it was meant only for a specific religion; instead, it carried a sense of peace, hope, and reflection that anyone could connect with. Sitting there, listening to the choir, I felt a rare kind of stillness and positivity that stayed with me long after I left. What makes this place special is not just its history or architecture, but the living tradition of music that continues inside it; regular choir performances, rehearsals open to visitors, and daily organ recitals make it feel alive rather than just preserved. If you are visiting Salt Lake City, I would strongly recommend attending a live musical session at the Tabernacle. Whether you are religious or not, the experience of hearing the choir in that space is something uniquely moving and genuinely unforgettable.

Amazing! The choir was so good and the missionaries were sweet! Plenty of seating and they let us in even though we were a little late!
