The Martin’s Cove: Mormon Trail Site includes a visitors’ center with artwork, artifacts, and exhibits about the rescue of the Willie and Martin handcart companies and the Hunt and Hodgett wagon companies in 1856 and the Latter-day Saint migration west. Throughout the historic site, monuments, memorials, and sculptures commemorate the rescue. A trail loop leads to the eastern portion of the cove. Visitors may also hike a trail that leads to Devil’s Gate and explore the Sun Ranch at Devil’s Gate, a national historic landmark interpreting the homestead and cattle ranch that began on the site in 1872.
Beautiful area. The hike up to the Cove is a bit steep (for an old guy), but the path is very well maintained and the experience was fantastic.
Since youth groups doing Trek reenactments tend to be there in the morning, 2:30pm was the perfect time to be there. We had the place almost entirely to ourselves - only encountered one other group of 5 during the whole of the ~6 mile loop.
The visitor's center was nice as well, featuring artifacts from the Sun Ranch and the story of that place as well as good graphics and explanations about the westward expansion including the Mormon Trail, the Oregon Trail and the California Trail plus the Pony Express.
If you have the better part of an afternoon to spend here, it is definitely worthwhile!

First time on Trek. Such a neat experience. The missionaries were so organized with our leaders and medical team. They were very helpful with anything we needed. The experience through Martin's Cove was very special and meant a lot to our youth. Really worth it to connect with our heritage and be in the places where our ancestors forged their stories.

Well worth the stop. Missionaries were amazing in guiding us through. It’s right off the main road which is awesome. Love this place and highly recommend you stop by.

This place is out in the middle of NOWHERE! Which was great for us being with an oversize load. Very nice owner, very clean, cozy room. Pet friendly. Only down side there are no tv's in the rooms.
