  I stayed here for one night at the beginning of September during a heat wave. I was in the area for one night due to an unexpected extended family event that made it most convenient to be the Teays Valley area. The room was booked less than a week before our arrival by another person in our family so I am not sure of our exact room type or price but I believe the nightly rate for my king bed room was about $150. The hotel options in this area are not great. Many of the hotels seem to be at least 20-30 years old. This hotel definitely showed its age. It’s the first hotel I’ve encountered in a while where I needed to insert the key card into the door handle (as opposed to tapping). The hotel was relatively clean but very dated with some very minor upgrades sprinkled throughout. My biggest complaint was the wifi which did not work well in my room. It would frequently kick my iPhone off of the wifi because I believe the signal wasn’t strong enough. The speed of the wifi made it difficult for me to work in my room. The staff of the hotel were nice and tried to be helpful but they were not warm or outwardly focused on strong guest experience. Most of the time, they were away from the front desk. Normally, I would not go back or recommend this hotel; but considering the options in the immediate vicinity, I would be in different to go back.

  We changed from the Holiday in Express in Charleston to the one in Hurricane. Service & location is much better!
