  I got treated like a king . The rooms are so nice I didn't want to touch anything just because it was so beautiful. And the women at the counter are sweet and very helpful! I was having a hard time trying to find a room for the night that was in my money range. One young lady that works in front helped me she was amazing. I had a great night .

  An intial one star experience bumped to 4 stars... upon returning to my room the key card failed due to the lock batteries needing replaced which required a technical fix unavailable until the following business day. Took over two hours to get in the room (issues locating the master lock). The front desk clerks were highly professional and moved us to another room, so we waited 10 minutes for the room transfer and two hours to retrieve our luggage. They made it right by offering free drinks from the cooler and extended our checkout time which was huge due to the sternwheel regatta festivities the following day. The thing that really impressed me was the communication between the clerks the following day. The checkout person quickly knew of the incident from the previous day due to a notation left by the previous clerk. I would like to add the breakfast bar was good with omelets/sausage/sausage gravy/ biscuits/bagels etc and a coffee machine freshly grinding coffee beans. The rooms were clean with a few superficial signs of wear but nothing I would consider noteworthy. Would have given 5 stars but I dinged a star due to the master key not being readily available.

  I arrived at this property with a fully prepaid reservation booked via Vio.com for $143.46. Upon check-in, the front desk stated they were unable to process the Virtual Credit Card (VCC) provided by the booking platform. Instead of resolving the technical billing issue directly with their partner network, the hotel transferred the financial burden to me, requiring an out-of-pocket payment of $108.00 plus a $50.00 incidental deposit just to access my room. While the incidental deposit was eventually released, management has failed to rectify the core double-billing error. I was explicitly assured by the booking platform—following their contact with the hotel manager—that a refund of $97.92 would be processed by the property to offset the duplicate charges.No such refund has materialized. As a result, both the full $143.46 third-party charge and the $108.00 front desk charge remain deducted from my accounts. The property has effectively retained two separate payments for a single night's stay. The complete lack of accountability, poor administrative handling, and failure to issue the promised refund reflect incredibly poorly on this location's management. I strongly advise travelers to avoid this property until they modernize their billing systems and honor their financial agreements.

  The hotel was super hot and stunk really bad. When we got to our room it smelled awful. Kind of like body odor mixed with cigarettes. We were gonna tough it out until we saw a mouse run across the floor. I went down and spoke calmly to the front desk. The didn't apologize, just asked it we wanted another room. The 2nd room still stunk, but not quite as bad as the first and there were no mice. Upon checkout they asked us about our stay. I was honest and told them. Again, no apologies. Just a, "Here's your receipt." Also, we had to pay over $10 just to park in the hotel parking lot overnight. Never had that even one time before in my life. As an IHG One memmber, I had hoped to get better.

  The holiday in express was an honest hotel that my friends stayed at. They didn't lie to my friends about a non existent pool or get attacked by an employee of the hotel like I did at the Marriot on Lee. True to both. There is no pool abd the Marriots lobby bathrooms are unsafe. Stay at the Holiday inn express if you have a choice. You can see my story on the Marriot maps page for the Marriot Charleston.
