    I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Rhinelander almost weekly for the past year due to work travel and am an IHG Gold Elite member. During that time, I’ve generally had positive experiences, especially during daytime hours. Sara is phenomenal, consistently provides outstanding customer service, and even knows me by name, which has always made me feel valued as a repeat guest. Unfortunately, my most recent stay was extremely disappointing. I made my reservation well in advance and have my account preferences clearly set to request a higher floor and a room away from the elevator and high-traffic areas. Due to travel delays, I arrived late and was assigned a first-floor room directly next to an exit door that sees constant foot traffic. When I politely asked about being moved to a higher floor, I explained that these preferences have been on my account for quite some time. Rather than looking into the issue or offering a solution, the front desk employee argued that she did not see any such requests. After contacting IHG customer service, I was informed that my preferences were indeed documented on my account and that the issue was at the hotel level. What was most frustrating was not that my request couldn’t be accommodated—it was the lack of accountability and customer service. A simple acknowledgment, apology, or effort to make things right would have gone a long way. Instead, I was left feeling dismissed despite being a loyal guest who stays here frequently and has maintained Gold Elite status with IHG. As someone who spends a significant amount of time on the road, I understand that room preferences cannot always be guaranteed. However, I do expect honest communication, professionalism, and a willingness to address concerns respectfully. Loyalty should matter, and owning mistakes goes a long way in maintaining guest relationships. This experience has left me disappointed and will make me reconsider whether I continue booking my stays at the Holiday Inn Express in Rhinelander moving forward.

    I was so happy with this place until I went to bed and the hand found something rather disgusting under my pillow. It was late and I was not going to keep my daughter up to call and make a complaint. They obviously did not change the bedding in between guests. Breakfast was delicious. The pool are was great. They even have an outdoor fire area. I will be back.
