My wife and I reserved a room online for one night. Wow, not great or good! Check in for everyone is 3pm, but the keys are already laid out next to the check in paperwork. We checked in got our keys and proceeded to the room.
Whew got to the room and it smell kind of funny, but we like umm well let's spray some lysol and go out to eat and come back. Well we went and ate walk around a bit and came back, but smell never died down! So my wife went to the desk and explain what was going on.
Well they have given us a room on the first floor which is dedicated to people who bring pets! We did not have any pets so why would someone give us such a room! Well they had my wife check another room on that floor to substitute, but it was bad smelling as well!
Then the young lady at the desk which a totally different person from which we had first checked in, had given a room on the second floor and was considerably much better! It was like a it a whole other place! That save us that night!
I appreciate the help she gave to us! Unfortunately she and that room she had given us was the brightest point of this hotel. I would never book here again! I also don't recommend anyone else book here either!
Great experience. The gal at the front desk (I think her name was Katherine?) needs a raise. When we first arrived it was very busy with multiple families checking in. She was the only one behind the counter but we were greeted with a smile and a pleasant hello, she asked us if we had any questions or needed anything else before we headed up to the room. We got up to the room and upon entering noticed a really strong odor, thought nothing of it and headed to dinner, when we got back it was worse. We went down to the front desk to request a room change and without hesitation she was able to assist us and get us into a new room which was 10x better! The pool and hot tub are clean and the rooms themselves quiet. Very nice for the price!!
Upon arrival, the exterior of the building was marred by trash scattered everywhere, including discarded containers of empty pool chemicals outside the pool area and a wheelbarrow filled with debris that remained untouched in the exact same spot for the duration of our entire visit. The parking lot was equally neglected; bricks surrounding the landscape planters had clearly been struck by a vehicle and were left strewn across four parking spaces, the entire lot could stand to be redone. Inside, basic operations failed: we attempted multiple times before check out to express our concerns, but could not get anyone to come to the front desk despite a bell that I assume was just there to entertain us since no one ever came to the desk. Technological frustrations added to the poor experience, as the internet connection was spotty at best, and the television system was overly confusing, offering no physical guide to look through—only a frustrating QR code instead. Called to express my frustration only to be hung up on not once but twice.

My stay at the Best Western in Minocqua, Wisconsin, was absolute garbage, and I would rather stay in a box on the side of the street than ever return here. From the moment we arrived, things went downhill fast; the manager was completely rude and dismissive when we tried to check in, informing us we couldn't even get into our room until after 5:00 PM. To make matters worse, upon finally getting to the room, we discovered actual bedbugs crawling in the bed, which is a horrific health hazard that ruins belongings and causes immense distress. If that wasn't deplorable enough, the breakfast preparation room was in a filthy, unacceptable state. To top off the nightmare, the woman working in the breakfast area had an accident and peed herself, yet she continued to walk around the entire breakfast room until the space smelled strongly of urine. When brought to the attention of management, the manager (Kristen I believe) simply did not care. This place represents a total failure of hospitality, health standards, and basic decency. Avoid at all costs!

Our recent stay at the Best Western was an absolute disaster from start to finish, highlighted by a severe bed bug infestation, profoundly unprofessional management from Kristen, and unsanitary common areas. Upon inspecting our sleeping quarters, we discovered bed bugs crawling across the mattress, rendering the room entirely uninhabitable and posing a major health hazard.
To compound matters, when we approached the front desk to address these alarming issues, the management was remarkably rude, dismissive, and entirely unapologetic. During our brief exploration of the property, we unfortunately overheard on-duty staff members conversing about hotel guests in the hot tub area using language that was exceptionally inappropriate and degrading. Furthermore, the on-site bar was utterly filthy, featuring sticky counters and uncleaned glassware, while the overall pricing for the accommodations felt extortionate given the appalling conditions. The combination of health violations and appalling customer service makes this location unlivable; I would genuinely prefer to sleep in my car than ever stay at this property again. Future travelers should exercise extreme caution and heed online warnings regarding cleanliness and staff conduct before booking.
