Honestly good for the value. The hotel is just a few blocks away from the Milwaukee Public Market, Milwaukee Intermodal Station, and Henry Maier Festival Park. It's also not that far to other restaurants and points of interest like the Riverwalk although it's a little bit more of a walk. They have a valet service for cars if you drive.
I came in pretty late. I think it was around 10-11pm when I arrived but a staff member was in the lobby to still take care of any guests' needs. Check-in was fast and they gave me two bottles of water after asking for it. They can always give you more if you ask the lobby especially for the length you stay in the hotel unless you just want to buy some other things available in their own mini mart. Going around the hotel and reaching my room, it was exceptionally clean. Breakfast area was pretty small but the plates and utensils given are disposable ones so you can always take your food back to your room, which was convenient for a solo traveller like me. They had a good amount of food out for continental breakfast: two types of yogurt, milk, boiled egg, cream cheese for your toast or bagel when available, blueberry muffin, cinnamon roll, pork or turkey sausage, egg white or regular omellette with cheese, diced potatoes, pancakes, and oatmeal. Breakfast hours are different during the weekdays and weekends. Fitness area had three treadmills, one upright bike, one elliptical, one max trainer, one row machine, two benches, dumbells, medicine balls, and a few mats. There's also a water bottle machine and a table with gym towels, paper towels, and paper cups free to use.
The room was also very spacious including the bathroom itself. If you forgot some toiletries, they have some available but you have to ask the lobby. There's a hairdryer in a bag. Microwave and a small fridge was available in the room so is an ironing board and an iron. Surprisingly no coffee maker available in the room but they have an automatic coffee maker downstairs that's open 24/7 so you can get caffeintated, decaf, or hot water to make tea. Ice machines only worked on the 2nd or 5th floor too. For some reason, the wall sockets close to the TV didn't work but I was able to connect my phone underneath the desk for when I'm eating. Sockets close to the bed were working at least.
Overall, pretty good hotel! Didn't disappoint and actually exceeded my expectations. Check out was also smooth!
Booked last minute for a large group (20 people). The staff the night of and the following morning at checkout couldn’t have been more helpful. Best stay/experience I’ve had at a holiday inn express.
Really nice place and pretty quiet. Receptionists were extremely kind and helpful. There were free cookies in the lobby for a little bit. The breakfast in the morning was great too, it was better than most free breakfasts. Only downside is parking is valet, but you can park at one of the next door parking lots for cheaper, but they aren’t connected to the hotel.

As someone that travels quite regularly for both business and leisure, to me a hotel is just a place to sleep. We were obviously in town for something other than just a hotel. This hotel is clean and everything here met every expectation we had. But what was the x factor for me was the amazing customer service. Greg, who I believe is the manager was one of the most pleasant people I have dealt with at any hotel. In a world where excellent service is a rarity it was a breath of fresh air to have daily positive interactions with someone. Thank you Greg for being yourself. You were tremendous to interact with while we stayed at your Holiday Inn Express.
Holiday inn Express downtown Milwaukee is a wonderful hotel to book if you're in Milwaukee, walking distance from downtown with its famous public market and shopping stores, also very close to Milwaukee amazing museums.
I spent 11 days at this hotel and I'm a very satisfied client, the hotel is spotless, the room is spacious and very well maintained, good speed wi-fi, comfy bed, and I'm 6.5, tv, fridge, coffee and tea all up to date. Employees are very customer service oriented, Ms. Ortega, the manager, couldn't be more welcoming and helpful, always with a smile and always asking about how everything is going and if there's more she can do to make your stay even more comfortable. Frida and Alycia, OMG, their smiles on that front desk is something that you will remember, as you could feel that it's genuine and real, when I couldn't get my phone to work in USA , they called cabs for me, called my daughter and showed me how to get to many places on their own phones. Thank you Frida and Alycia for all your help, you are real gems and holiday inn is lucky to have you both on board, I'm sure I'm not the one saying this.
Milwaukee visitors, I highly recommend this hotel for your stay!
Oh. I forgot to mention that I love the afernoon cookies !😋😋 🤣
