I had a very disappointing stay at the Holidays Inn in Ellensburg, WA. From the moment I walked in, the lobby felt muggy, the ceiling was peeling, and the furniture and décor looked very worn and outdated.
If you're booking through your company, be prepared for potential issues. Even though my card had already been charged—and I showed proof of the charge—they refused to get me checked in while they sorted things out. Instead, I was left waiting in the lobby. Rather than helping resolve the problem, the night employee provided very poor customer service.
Unfortunately, the room wasn't any better than the lobby. It was run-down and showed a lot of wear and tear. I also found four spiders in my room, which was unacceptable.
The amenities were disappointing as well. There was no coffee maker in the room, and the iron barely got hot and leaked water all over my work uniforms. For $370 for two nights, I expected a much better experience.
To top it off, the breakfast area was extremely overcrowded, making it difficult to enjoy what was offered.
Overall, I would not recommend staying here. The property needs significant maintenance and improvements, and the customer service—especially at night—needs serious attention

The hotel has a nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly and accommodating during our stay. The room was clean and comfortable, but I did find the noise from the hallway a bit disruptive at times. Overall, a decent experience with some room for improvement.

Buckle up, this is long. We reserved rooms at the Holiday Inn in Ellensburg, Washington seven months in advance for our baseball team during a busy tournament weekend. Originally, we had booked two nights, but when plans changed, we called the hotel the day before check-in to let them know we would only need one night instead. We asked if we could cancel the first night, and while they said no, we understood and confirmed we would still be arriving the following day. We were specifically told that was fine as long as we checked in by 5 PM.
When we arrived, the front desk employee was visibly irritated from a phone call before even helping us. She looked up our reservation and informed us that our room had been canceled because we were marked as a “no-show.” I explained that we had called the day before, spoke with a staff member, and were assured our reservation was still active. We had specifically asked them to leave notes on the reservation.
Instead of trying to help resolve the situation, she repeatedly insisted we were a no-show and said there was nothing she could do because there were no rooms available. When I became understandably frustrated and asked to speak with a manager, she informed me that she was the manager. The situation escalated further when she threatened to call the police, stated she had the right to refuse service to anyone she wanted, and told me that even if a room became available, she would not rent it to me.
We later found out this was not an isolated issue. Several families from our baseball team had their reserved rooms canceled as “no-shows,” despite the fact that every family had called the day before regarding their reservations. Multiple families were left stranded during a packed tournament weekend with nowhere to stay because of the hotel’s mistake.
What was most disappointing was the complete lack of accountability or empathy. There was no apology, no effort to help relocate families, no concern that we had children and even a small puppy with us and nowhere to go. We also were never clearly told whether we would even receive refunds.
After scrambling to find anything available during a sold-out weekend, we finally found rooms at the Hampton Inn by Hilton for nearly $480 — about three times the cost of the rooms we had reserved months earlier. Thankfully, the staff at the Hampton Inn were incredibly kind, accommodating, and understanding. They even lowered their rate for us once they heard what had happened.
I would strongly recommend that any sports teams or traveling families avoid booking with the Holiday Inn in Ellensburg. If possible, stay at the Hampton Inn instead. Their staff treated us with professionalism, compassion, and genuine care — something we unfortunately did not experience at the Holiday Inn.
Edit— in response to the hotels comment. That is not in fact true and I have proof that I called the day before and was told specifically that if I arrived by 5pm the following day that my room would be held. I was never told my reservation would be impacted and I had full awareness that I would be paying for both nights. I never expected not to pay or to be able to cancel. I will be getting my refund and if I don’t then I will see you in court and we can let a judge decide. We will also be contacting the head of Little League in our area and letting them know to never have any of the teams reserve at this hotel. The lack of attention to this matter has been unbelievable and we could not be more disappointed with you guys
