HIE Staunton Va, 6.27,28.26 Rm. 414
Staff that I have met are very cordial and accommodating. Breakfast on Sunday was standard HIE food scrambled eggs and sausage; abundant and hot with outdoor seating in good weather. Monday’s breakfast was different with fried eggs and bacon which was very good.
The room was spacious, extremely clean and well designed. The shower is a nice walk in which is so much better than stepping in a tub. The hotel is close to some very good restaurants, Staunton Orthodox Presbyterian Church and reasonable gas. It’s for the church and eateries that we stayed an extra night. It also has an indoor pool and nice exercise room and is just a short distance from Route 81.
Good value for the price and I highly recommend as an excellent choice for travelers.

I really enjoyed my stay here and I have to give a shout out to Cheyenne who checked me in. I accidentally messed up the machine pulling my card out too soon and it caused a complete reboot of her system and I called to receive help from tech to get it going again, And she never wants made me feel put out or impatient with the system. She was so sweet and so kind and she recommended the Mill Street grill for dinner and it was delicious!!! Very good customer service skills. Very appreciative of her. Hotel was nice and clean as expected from IHG. Plenty of parking, parking lot is nice and lit up. Overall a very nice place to stay.

I should have read the reviews before booking. I completely agree with what other guests have experienced here.
The Good:
- The hotel is overall quite clean and conveniently located right off the highway without needing any detours.
- Despite being close to the highway, it was surprisingly quiet inside.
- The shower pressure was great—plenty of water flow without feeling too harsh.
The Bad:
- Parking Fee: While $5 won't break the bank or make me cancel my stay, I absolutely detest this kind of "hidden surprise." After a long day of driving, you just want a smooth check-in, not to feel nickeled and dimed (or extorted). Honestly, I fail to understand why a hotel in this specific location feels the need to charge for parking.
- Breakfast: I went down at 8 AM, and most items were already gone. My friends came down in waves after me, and even by 8:40 AM, I didn't see anyone refilling the food. The staff was just constantly wiping down tables. I guess all I can say is that it was a "clean" breakfast.
- The Beds: Every single bed sagged heavily in the middle. The sofa bed was even worse—once opened, it formed a massive bowl shape. None of us slept well all night.
- Bath Towels: I honestly cannot believe these are used in a 3-star establishment. Half of them looked white, while the other half were a dingy gray—clearly worn out, washed too many times, with frayed edges. To make matters worse, when I saw the housekeeping cart in the morning, it had rags, personal backpacks, and disposable drink cups piled right on top of the towels. I am so relieved I decided not to use them after my shower.
This hotel left a very bad taste in our mouths, especially for a 3-star brand. I deeply regret not reading the reviews beforehand.

$5 extortion fee under the disguise of a parking permit . We stayed here several times including last year with no parking fee . This hotel is located in an area that’s not busy with a huge parking lot . There is no mention of a fee until you get in and check in at which time they tell you it’s $5 to park your car . At that point what do you do ? Say no I won’t and then goto another hotel and they charge you for the night anyway because you canceled the stay or do you park your car up the street and walk to the hotel ? It’s outrageous . Put the fee in the cost of the room or is it that you can’t because this is a one off money making fee for the manager of this location . I have pictures attached of the parking permit they give you as well as photos of the lot . If your reading this review have you ever stayed at a hotel like this and paid a fee to park in their lot ?
We will never stay here again and I’ve stayed here many times before . So you now lost another customer because of this . Everyone do yourself a favor look at all the negative reviews of this place and they are all about the extortion parking fee . While your reading reviews you can see all business responses to the negative review are generic and all the same .
Stay somewhere else there are lots and lots of beautiful places to stay around here . It’s the principal of this and not the $5 . I’ve stayed all over the USA as well as overseas and never had to pay a parking fee with one exception in the heart of New York City and that was at a parking garage by the hotel and not the hotel . Who has a hotel in the country and charges a fee to park it’s laughable .
Some non related issues we had that just reflect on the money grabbing and penny pinching by the hotel management . We stayed in a room for 4 people and they only had 2 bath towels in the bathroom . Second there was no spare toilet paper . One roll was almost gone when we arrived and the second roll was almost to half way . Breakfast was sparse . Don’t look for yogurt of anything like that as they no longer stock that in the refrigerator that is in the breakfast area located next to the pancake machine that was “broken” I felt bad for the family with the little kids that wanted pancakes and not the hockey puck eggs and sausage .
I understand bottom line and trying to make a profit but the management here needs to make sure things are fully stocked get rid of that rediculose parking fee which you have no choice to pay and are not told about it until check in at that point it’s to late to decide if that’s something you want to pay or go down the street to the next hotel . This is a management issue as I’m sure the Employees who were very pleasant and polite are doing the best they can given the instructions they receive from the hotel manager .

For a free breakfast. The staff said this is all we got . It was a few fried eggs . No muffins pastries meats. Pancake machine was broken . There was bread and a toaster . And this was a half hour after breakfast opened .
For a place in the middle of no where with a huge parking lot they charge every guest to park even if you paid to stay over night 🤔
On the other hand was clean and comfortable.
Had to change dates due to error on booking.com . Booking.com had no problem helping me but trying to get the hotel to do their part
