    Excellent hotel. Right near the mountains, quiet, great outdoor pool, great breakfast, friendly staff, huge and modern room.

    Clean and comfortable hotel, and a good stop for our one-night stay. Breakfast was good, and the staff was friendly. A nice bonus is that they have Costa Coffee available. Overall, a convenient and pleasant place to stay while traveling.

    This hotel is located in a rural location off of the interstate and scams guests for a $5/day/vehicle "parking fee." I regularly stay at Holiday Inn Expresses and this is not standard operating procedure. Add to the room cost, but don't infuriate people with a parking fee in the middle of nowhere!

    We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Salem by IHG as part of our road trip. In terms of individual components—the room, service, and location easily earned 5 stars across the board. Everything about our actual room and the location was great. Throughout our entire journey staying at various Holiday Inns, Jennifer was the only staff member who recognized my IHG Platinum Status and proactively offered a room upgrade. Feeling valued as a loyalty member was a rare and greatly appreciated gesture when other locations seemed indifferent. She appeared to be running the property entirely on her own, hustling back and forth to take care of every guest with an incredible attitude. However, our overall rating comes down to 3 stars due to a major safety hazard at the outdoor pool. The stairs leading to the pool area were dangerously slippery. While my father made it down safely, my son slipped and hurt his big toe. When I asked for a bandage, Jennifer was wonderful and even offered to file an incident report, which I declined. But guest safety must be a top priority—especially for children and seniors—and management urgently needs to fix those stairs. Jennifer’s hard work, combined with the comfortable room and great location, kept this stay positive, but the safety issue keeps my overall rating at a 3 out of 5. Management needs to address the pool area so the property can live up to its full potential!
