  Very clean and contemporary. Tyler at the front desk was very accommodating and friendly! Would definitely stay again!

  My husband and I arrived May 3 at approximately 4:00 PM. Check In took no more than 5 minutes. Tyler checked us in.We had to pay an additional charge for possible incidentals because we were third party . This meant because we didn’t book directly with HIE. Went up to the room to check it out before departing to our event 14 miles away that started at 4:30. We heard a child crying while we were there, in the next room, #303.s Someone entered the room , sounded female,and said spoke to the child in a comforting clearly understandable voice . Indicating she was going to give the child something to eat . We left and went to our event that brought us to The area. We returned about 8:30. Went to bed about 10PM. At approximately 3:00AM the child started crying and the female voice could be heard very clearly attempting to quiet the child. We could hear the microwave opening and closing.This continued until 6AM. We heard every thing that was spoken from the occupants while in the room until we went downstairs to eat breakfast. The breakfast was one of the best we’ve had. The room was clean, comfortable and was represented well by the photos. All lotions for hands , body and hair were in pump bottles which we thought was a very smart idea. Heating worked well . Some of the painted areas lacked craftsmanship. At check out I conveyed that it was not a good stay to management and nothing was asked as to why. I also inquired about when the incidental charges would be refunded and why, 3-5 business days. I went to the car to retrieve the second door key which has to be turned and ask for a receipt . The individual at front desk did not have a name tag and seemed annoyed by me. Would I stay at another HIE?Probably just would have appreciated an apology and hope that all the walls are insulted and I could not hear my neighbors so clearly.

  I was told by friends that this hotel is fantastic but, even with that, it exceeded my (and my son’s expectations). I’ll start with the least important things. The daily breakfast is awesome. Bacon, eggs, juice bar, etc… oh, but also omelettes and sausage gravy and biscuits for free?? That’s a great deal. The rooms and the hotel itself are incredibly clean and the place itself just smells nice… like when you visit your uber rich friend in his 8000 sf condo in NYC and you just like the smell of the lobby. Ya know? The fitness room and jacuzzi were awesome and used extensively by my son and me. Loved it. The rooms are beautiful and enormous. We opted for the ones with the hot tub and I swear that thing could hold 6 people comfortably had we decided to throw a rager (we didn’t. He’s only 15). Now for the most important thing. The staff. OMG. Ashley, Brandy and Jason are amazing. Seriously. If you can feel like the hotel staff is family without it being weird, then that’s how I feel. I met Brandy first when I came down and told her that I had I had put an offer on a lakefront home for me and my kiddo. She was genuinely happy for me. I showed her pics, we talked about the lake life… I legit wanted to be friends and neighbors with her. Then last night I brought my 15 year old son down to see the house for the first time. We haven’t closed on it so I wanted to stay here again. Brandy actually recognized my voice while I was at the counter and came out to say hi. What? I don’t recognize my mom’s voice sometimes; how did she recognize my mine (Note: it’s not squeaky or anything. It’s quite manly actually. I think?). Anyway, then I met Ashley and Jason and they were just as friendly. Ashley has the work ethic as if she bought the hotel herself and it’s her only source of income. Jason is such a good ole boy (I’m from Winchester, VA… that’s how I was raised too) that when he said he wasn’t married nor had any kids, I wanted to create his Bumble profile and write a recommendation for him. I see a lake party with the Rocky Mount HIE team in my near future. And you should be jealous because you’re going to be hosting one with your inept, unfriendly and quite frankly uncool hotel staff… and, well, you deserve it for not choosing this hotel. Do better.

  Tyler was amazing - I’d stay again just because this front desk person was extremely helpful and patient!
