  Stayed here on a Friday night on the way to North Carolina for vacation. Location was good and not too hard to find. Rooms were relatively clean when we checked in but size of the rooms were a little smaller but still for two queens, it does the job for a night. Staff were very friendly throughout the stay. Breakfast had a good spread of hot and cold items, breakfast area was small and with a full hotel the night before, everything was well stocked and filled when needed. I would stay here again.

  Great hotel for anyone traveling in the area. One of the older properties that is well maintained and staffed by helpful enthusiastic employees that are always helpful. This last stay we ducked in withour a reservation after the HIE Rewards messed up. Clerk on duty was able to locate us in the system due to an earlier stay, and were very helpful. We actually extended the stay to two nights, and stayed another night on our way back home! Thanks again for a pleasant stay in a quiet well ran HIE!

  Great location and staff, but room maintenance needs attention. We recently stayed at this Holiday Inn Express while traveling to Emerald Isle, North Carolina. It was the perfect halfway point for us, making the second leg of our trip a very manageable five-hour drive. The Highlights: Exceptional Staff: The office staff were truly pleasant and were easily the standout feature of our stay. They provided excellent service that compared very favorably to other hotels we have visited. Outdoor Amenities: There were two or three very pleasant areas outside to sit and enjoy the evening air, which was a highlight of our time at the property. Comfortable Bed: The room bed itself was great and provided a comfortable night's sleep. Areas for Improvement: While the staff was wonderful, there were several maintenance and operational issues that impacted our experience: Room Maintenance: We noted a few frustrating details in our room: The panels underneath both nightstands were detached (the magnets/hooks were not holding them in place). The freezer door on the refrigerator was missing entirely. The safe was not secured to the closet floor, making it easily portable, and the batteries were dead, rendering it unusable. Room Layout: The bathroom door clearance is tight; the door rolls up the bathmat every time you open it. Trimming the bottom of the door would be a simple, helpful fix. Crowds & Facilities: The hotel only has one elevator, which created significant delays when the hotel was sold out. Additionally, the pool is exceptionally small—if you are traveling with children expecting a swimming experience, this likely won’t meet those expectations. Breakfast Staffing: The breakfast was standard for the brand, but it was surprising to see only one staff member managing the entire area during a sold-out weekend. It was difficult for one person to keep tables clean and the area tidy; I would highly recommend staffing at least two people during busy periods. Overall, this is a convenient location with a fantastic team, but a bit more attention to room maintenance and staffing levels during peak occupancy would go a long way.
