  This hotel was quaint, comfortable, & very convenient for our trip. Staff was friendly & provided excellent customer service throughout our stay. The complimentary breakfast wasn't extravagant, but it had all the essentials. There are also plenty of nearby restaurants if you're looking for more options. The only minor issue we noticed was that the hot water took a little while to warm up. It wasn't a big enough concern for us to mention to the staff so we were patient with it. We stayed just one night after spending the day at King's Dominion, & it was a great place to rest before heading home. If we visit King's Dominion again, we'd stay here again.

  Tonight, we arrived at the hotel after a long and stressful day of traveling and were warmly welcomed by Frankie. He was upbeat, cheerful, and took the time to explain all of the hotel’s amenities. He also assured us that if we needed anything during our stay, we could call him. We did run into an issue, and Frankie went above and beyond to help us. His outstanding customer service made the rest of our family’s trip home so much smoother. We have stayed at two other hotels during this road trip and had previously considered ourselves loyal Hilton guests, but our experience with Frankie alone has made us switch to IHG hotels. We are incredibly thankful that, after such a stressful day of traveling, we ended up here and felt like our girls were genuinely taken care of. The hotel itself is also wonderful. We had access to a microwave to heat up Easy Mac for our children and a refrigerator to store their yogurt. When traveling with young children, having access to simple conveniences like these truly makes all the difference. The beds were also very comfortable, and the room had everything our family needed. Thank you, Frankie, for making us feel welcomed and cared for. Your kindness and exceptional service did not go unnoticed!

  We enjoyed our stay. Location was right off the highway which was good for our needs. Breakfast was included but could have been better.

  ⭐☆☆☆☆ I stayed at this avid hotel in Ashland for over a month while transitioning back to Virginia after caring for my parents. During my stay, I experienced ongoing cleanliness issues and what I believe was very unprofessional customer service. The cleanliness was my biggest concern. I was repeatedly given rooms that I found to be dirty, with marks on the walls, dirty floors, and bathrooms that were not cleaned to an acceptable standard. I even asked one of the housekeepers, with her permission, if I could use some cleaning supplies so I could clean my room myself because I did not feel it had been properly cleaned. I have photographs documenting the condition of the rooms. On another occasion, after I had cleaned the shower myself, a staff member entered the room to refill the bathroom dispensers and left a dirty shoe print in the shower. I simply pointed it out and said it could have been rinsed away. I did not raise my voice or speak disrespectfully. Manager Portsia Smith later accused me of being rude to the housekeeping staff and told me I needed to leave the hotel. I was surprised because my interactions with the housekeepers were polite. I had asked permission to use the cleaning supplies, thanked the housekeeper, and believed the interaction was respectful. I suggested that the security camera footage be reviewed because I believed it would accurately show what occurred. Another frustrating experience occurred when I waited approximately two hours for a room that I was told was not ready. When I finally received the room, it was still not cleaned to an acceptable standard. Not every employee provided poor service. Kenny, who worked evenings, was consistently kind and professional. A younger gentleman who also worked evenings was courteous, and a petite daytime front desk associate was also pleasant and helpful. I appreciate the professionalism they showed. Unfortunately, my overall experience with management and the repeated cleanliness issues prevent me from recommending this location. I have stayed at other avid hotels in Texas, where I received clean rooms and excellent customer service. Based on my experience, this location did not meet those same standards. I hope the hotel will improve both its housekeeping standards and the way guest concerns are addressed.
