  We had a bad experience at another hotel and called around for help at the last minute. This hotel stepped up. The employee, Brittany, was empathetic. She explained what was available and gave us a good, clean, and comfortable room with everything we needed. She helped us with our bags and generally went above and beyond for us. This hotel and Brittany helped turn a bad day into a really good one! We’d never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express before. This won’t be our last time. Thanks Brittany, IHG, and Holiday Inn Express!

  An older hotel suffering from poor maintenance despite a recent remodel. Suggest people look for accomodations at one of the many other hotels along Richmond's I-95. Our room had an initial strong bleach smell that turned to wet carpet within an hour or so after we checked in. Seems they had a leaking AC unit as only the carpet near the AC were soaked. Whole room smelled like moldy wet carpet for the rest of our 1 night stay. We brought the flooded carpet issue up during check out and staff went "Oh thanks for letting us know. We'll get that taken care of. Bye." No partial credit or apology. Seems par for the course at this hotel. The one and only elevator is very slow, had a loose button panel and made strange noises during operation...more maintenance issues. There were other minor maintenance issues such as cracks between our room's ceiling and walls, moldy bathroom sink overflow hole, etc. The room doors offer little sound proofing as we heard conversations from various patrons in the hallway till about 1-2 am. Our room was located right by the elevator. There is no filtered water on this property. The night check-in staff were kind enough to offer us a few chilled bottle waters. Breakfast consisted of the usual budget hot meal options (omelettes, biscuits & gravy, sausage, bagels/toast, cinnamon buns, yogurt, etc). The parking lot is smaller than most other Holiday Inn Expresses. Might not be a good option for RVs or trucks. Note that the 35mph road from I-95 to the hotel is agressively speed trapped by Virginia state troopers day and night.

  Hotel is in a good location for a quick overnight during road trip. Lots of food options nearby. Front desk guy was very friendly. The room itself is very rundown and not to the standards I usually expect from HIE especially for almost $200/night. Other options on the same exit that may be better.

  We really enjoyed our stay there. The front desk staff member, Brittany, was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visit. The room was comfortable, we had everything we needed for a pleasant stay.
