Having stayed here several times in the past, I'm comfortable in saying that the rooms are clean and the bed comfortable.
The small kitchen area is perfect for what you need if you're going to be staying over a week.
The parking lot is a bit small and when they had contractors on site they filled the parking lot.
But the parking lot is well lit, there was no broken glass or trash.
Our only issue with this specific location was with some of their policies and customer service.
But management went out of their way to contact us, listened, understood our complaints and took action.
We had to accept and understand the reasons for certain policies, but once explained in an open dialog it was obvious this management team understood our concerns and fully addressed them.
We seldom see such rapid management action. Highly impressed.
The location is good, Plenty of local restaurants and places to pick up a few things.
I would recommend this location.

Not impressed. For some reason when a hotel also caters to long stay clients, quality isn't a priority anymore. I stayed because I wanted a suite instead of a single room, not because I was extended stay.
The Internet was essentially unusable. Poor Wi-Fi wouldn't be the end of the world except there also isn't good cell service in the building. The Wi-Fi wasn't even good enough to write this review, I had to leave the hotel first. Poor internet shouldn't be a big deal but it just is. We use our phones constantly. The Wi-Fi wouldn't make wifi calls either and again poor cell service in the building also prevented calls. The Wi-Fi put us in a dead zone for 2 days. Unacceptable in 2026.
The TV service was outdated. Other hotels have smart TVs where you can log into streaming services easily. No I don't want to watch reruns of B movies on the Hallmark channel on my vacation. There is also no TV guide channel so you have to just cycle through like you time traveled to the 90's.
We lost power while we were there. The generators came on for a few hours before they turned off (ran out of fuel I assume). They didn't refuel the generators. Not a big deal I guess except for the fact that after the generators turned off so did the emergency lights in the stairwell. I tripped down the stairs with my arms full of luggage.
The location is questionable. It's right next to a lot with several vacant businesses. Unmaintained infrastructure seemed to give off questionable vibes.
The wall AC unit says it's controlled by the thermostat on the wall, however the wall thermostat was dead.
There was no breakfast, which I understand because it's not that type of hotel, plus there's a kitchen in the room. Still annoying though because not everyone is extended stay, some of us just want larger accommodations because we're traveling with family.
The pet fee for 2 miniature poodles was $150. Seems excessive.
The people were nice at least.

May, at the front desk, is THE BEST! Her customer service skills are top notch. The rooms are big and clean with nice kitchenettes and a full sized fridge and mini stoves. Much better than some of the "high end" hotels I've stayed in. I'll definitely be back!

I checked into the Candlewood Suites Alexandria - Fort Belvoir last night and honestly… I already don’t want to leave.
My son was just stationed at Fort Belvoir, so we arrived exhausted in a U-Haul after a long trip helping him get settled. Their parking lot is definitely small for something like a U-Haul, BUT the outstanding customer service here more than makes up for it.
The manager, Nikki, was absolutely exceptional from the moment we arrived. She personally came outside herself and helped us get the U-Haul parked safely, which immediately took so much stress off of us. Since I came along for my son’s visit and move, the staff even brought up a sleeping cot to help get me settled in comfortably.
Then today, Nikki went even further and let my son know that since I’ll be here visiting with him for the next two weeks, they’re moving us into a two-bedroom suite on Saturday. That kind of kindness and thoughtfulness is rare these days.
Another thing that stood out to me this morning — every single employee I passed while leaving the hotel greeted me with a genuine “good morning.” All three of them. That may sound small, but honestly, you just don’t see that kind of warmth and hospitality much anymore.
The hotel itself has been amazing too. It’s incredibly quiet, clean, and peaceful. The room smells fresh, the air feels amazing, and for someone sensitive to allergies and stuffy environments, that has made such a huge difference for me already. The whole place just feels calm and comfortable.
This honestly feels more like a home away from home than a hotel. I’m here until June 7th, and so far this stay has been exactly what I needed. Thank you to Nikki and the entire staff for making a stressful move feel welcoming, peaceful, and cared for.

It smells like curry mixed with death on the entire 2nd floor. I am checking out tomorrow and will never stay here again. I would give the service 5 stars for how wonderfully nice the ladies were when I first checked in, but not after this evening when I came back to the hotel from being at a conference all day. I said something to the front desk this morning on my way out the door, and when I got back this evening and asked the staff stated that it was sprayed down and the smell was taken care of, but it is not - it actually smells worse this evening than it did this morning. I threw up in my mouth walking down the hall to my room I literally started speed walking to the point of jogging to get to my door. Why did the staff lie to me??? There was obviously no action taken to mitigate the stench. The hotel location rocks as it is so close to Belvoir but dude next time the Hampton next door will be my selection - a coworker is staying there and there are no reports of an awful smell at that hotel! Sorry Candlewood but the stench is HUGE DEAL BREAKER!!! YUCK!!! That and there are water stains on the ceiling of the room which is never a good sign.
