About

Historical LandmarkReligious OrganizationThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
President Brigham Young lived in this home in St. George, Utah, during the winter months from 1870 to 1877. The adjacent office was built to facilitate the work of preparing the sealing and endowment temple ordinances for the dead, conducted for the first time in the St. George Utah Temple. The home and adjacent office have been restored and furnished to reflect their 1870s appearance. Tours tell about Brigham Young’s family life in St. George and about his role in directing the settlement of southern Utah, including the construction of the St. George Utah Temple.

Very interesting facts about the house and the people who started the area and their resourcefulness. The creativity of all people who start new areas with raw resources is inspiring! People are amazing. I love learning about different cultures.

We loved this place. An interesting free tour of late 1800s pioneer life and the latter part of the life of Brigham Young.

There is so much of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints history here. I had no idea of all the stuff that was set up for the LDS Temple ceremonies in the buildings on his land in St. George. Brigham Young was not only a larger then life Latter Day Prophet, but he was very compassionate for the widows, orphans, and fatherless who were in his charge.
