I would not recommend booking a trail ride with this company. We came to get ice cream and were appalled when we saw a horse with his head tied down, from his bridle. Unable to move his head from the position it was tied in. IMAGINE you’re standing out in the sun all day with YOUR HEAD TIED DOWN, in one position. Having worked with horses before this is very upsetting. I would never treat I horse I cared about like that. So maybe they just don’t care. I do NOT recommend supporting this

I really wish we hadn’t spent $300 on riding some unruly horse through a little forest on a dirt trail. We literally walked by the rim for less than 3 minutes and then through a parking lot and back through a little bit of woods. Absolutely not worth $300 but the poor view is only the beginning. It was me, my husband, and 11 year old child. The 11 year olds horse was completely unruly. Ran her under a tree which scraped up her arm. She was terrified. They finally switched her horse with the leaders horse which was a little better. But then she was separated from my husband and I in back of the line of 10 horses. The horse in front of hers took off running with another little girl on it. My horse bit the horse in front of it non stop and then bucked me twice - kicking the horse and another lady’s leg behind me. I’m
Luckily I didn’t go flying off. The lady leading in the front was having wonderful conversation with front few people all while the poor guy in the back was trying to restore order to the chaos with the last 5 horse. He ended up walking and leading 2 horses back because there was such disorder. I never got one picture of our experience because I was constantly trying to wrangle my horse and trying to look back at my daughter to make sure she was safe. The most disappointing thing was not being able to see the canyon for more than a couple of minutes and even then the horses were so chaotic we were just trying to stay on them so we couldn’t even look out at the rim. The worst $300 I’ve ever spent.
We stayed at Rubys RV park and it was excellent. We ate at Rubys restaurant/buffett- it was very good.

These horses are kept out in the sun tied to a pole in extreme heat. One of the buff colored ones looked like it was really sick and had its head and body leaning on the pole and could not open its eyes when I tried to pet it. They look miserable and ill treated. They could have a cover for them AT LEAST. That’s what we do at our barn! Give them some shade for crying out loud. It makes me sick to see horses abused. That poor horse looked like the poor horses in NYC before they literally die! Could we be BETTER HUMANS to the animals we earn a living from??????I was at the rock shop next door and could not bear to make the horses ride. It was 87 degrees in the blaring bright shade and these poor horses will be there ALL SUMMER????????

What an amazing adventure. We did the Thunder Mountain Trail ride, our guide was informative and made sure we felt safe along the way. The ride was exhilarating, the horses sure-footed and calm. We rode along narrow trails with breathtaking views. I would highly recommend this trip for those with riding experience.

We enjoyed the experience very much and would offer only have a few suggestions. 1) recommend masks to prevent breathing in so much dust. 2) have some form of amplification for the riders beyond just the first one behind the guide to hear the sharing of information and stories. Riders 2-5 missed all of it. 3) don’t discourage riders who requests to wear a helmet to do so if it is their preference.
