- JMJanet MayDec 12, 20235.0Very well planned trip to NYC Holiday for Christmas! NYC was beautiful at Christmas. I enjoyed the many activities and experiences. Due to the rainy day it caused several things to be rearranged but our tour guide did a wonderful job of adding a few things and rearranging others so we didn’t miss anything! Would go again! The Broadway Shows were fabulous!

- BHBrenda HaysDec 1, 20225.0I love traveling with American Tours! The trips are well planned and loaded with fun and interesting things to do and see. We stay at very nice hotels and eat wonderful food. Just leave the driving and planning to them and have a great time!
- PPPattyJun 25, 20225.0Our trip to Amarillo was so much fun.Our tour guide, Donny Roach, took us around the Palo Duro Canyon loop and it (along with the musical Texas at the amphitheater)were spectacular. We enjoyed spraying our initials on the Cadillac's at Cadillac ranch and going on the route 66 tour later. I had heard about the Big Texas restaurant as we were getting seated a young man was just finishing trying to eat the 72 oz steak in an hour. Instead, he got handed a to go box and a bill. This The place is huge and really unique. There is live music, an arcade, a Texas size rocking chair you need a step ladder to get into and Texas size slices of cake which are about 1/4th of a cake. It’s a destination in itself. We also went to Bill’s Classic cars which was outstanding. Even if you are only remotely interested in cars-this will be a treat. Several of the people there that will explain the history of the cars and answer any question you have. The Amarillo tour is worth every cent and more!
Frequently Asked Questions About American Tours
How are seats assigned on motor-coach tours?
Seat assignments for motor-coach tours are made at the start of the tour and remain consistent for the duration of travel. Assignment priority is typically determined by the order in which registrations are received. We attempt to accommodate requests for friends and family to sit together whenever possible, though specific seat requests depend on availability. Seat rotation is not implemented on motor-coach tours.
Can I request a specific seat on the motor-coach?
Seating preferences may be submitted during the registration process. Priority for seat assignment is generally given based on registration date, with those who register earlier receiving preference for their requested locations. We make reasonable efforts to honor seating requests, though we cannot guarantee specific seat assignments. Travelers prone to motion sickness should consider taking appropriate preventative measures before departure, as adjustments to seating during the tour may not always be feasible.
Are gratuities included?
Gratuity guidelines differ depending on the tour format. For motor-coach tours, recommended gratuity amounts for your tour guide and driver will be communicated to you before departure. For fly & ride tours, gratuity practices are established by the tour operator and detailed in your tour documentation.
What are the smoking and alcohol policies on motor-coach tours?
Smoking and electronic cigarettes are prohibited on transportation vehicles and during group activities throughout American Tours packages. Alcoholic beverages may be consumed responsibly in appropriate settings; however, behavior that is disruptive or intoxicated will not be permitted. American Tours maintains the authority to intervene when behavior compromises the safety, comfort, or experience of the group.
What is the luggage allowance?
Baggage policies and luggage allowances differ based on tour format. For motor-coach tours, travelers are generally permitted one standard-sized suitcase and one smaller carry-on item per person. For fly & ride tours, baggage rules are established by the airline and depend on the ticket type purchased. Airline baggage fees, weight limits, and carrier-specific restrictions may apply. Detailed luggage information is included in your tour materials.
Can I travel alone?
Absolutely. Many travelers join American Tours independently and appreciate the welcoming and inclusive environment. Single room accommodations are offered on most tours, with an additional single supplement charge applied.
What happens if a tour does not meet minimum participation?
American Tours maintains the right to cancel a tour when minimum participation levels are not achieved. Should this occur, affected travelers will receive prompt notification and be presented with alternative tour options where available, or receive a full refund of all payments made for that scheduled departure.
Who is responsible for personal belongings?
Travelers retain full responsibility for their personal belongings throughout the tour. Although luggage and personal property are handled with care, American Tours and its partner organizations are not liable for items that are lost, stolen, or left unattended.
Are the tours physically demanding?
American Tours programs are developed for active senior adults and involve a moderate degree of physical activity. Participants should maintain good general health and possess the ability to walk reasonable distances, climb stairs, stand for extended periods, and traverse uneven terrain such as sidewalks, historic locations, and attractions. Every tour provides an activity level rating that should be carefully evaluated before enrollment. If you have concerns regarding mobility or physical capabilities, we recommend contacting American Tours before registering.
Can I bring a walker, wheelchair, or mobility scooter?
Motorized scooters and wheelchairs cannot be accommodated during tours due to constraints related to transportation, storage, and itinerary design. Although collapsible walkers may physically fit on certain motor-coach tours, our itineraries are not structured to support travelers requiring mobility assistance. Participants who depend on walkers or have mobility constraints may find the tour's pace and activity demands difficult to manage. All participants must be able to handle their own mobility needs throughout the tour without requiring assistance from staff or other travelers. If you have questions about whether a particular tour is suitable for your needs, we urge you to contact American Tours before completing your registration.
