This was by far the worst Holiday Inn Express I have ever stayed at in the country. It smelled like a tent that you took out of the attic when you stowed it away after a rainy vacation. Mold/mildew smell. The air conditioning unit did not filter out any of the smell and the compressor was struggling to keep from vibrating out of the wall. Listen to me, if you have children that have asthma, avoid this hotel. Do not leave your suitcase open or hang your clothes in the closets, they will smell like mildew the next morning. The supplier for their breakfast foods should be fired. It was terrible. You cannot call this a breakfast, it was like they wanted to say free breakfast, however, this was something you wanted to avoid whether it was free or not. The three personnel we engaged with at the front desk were just mundane. There was nothing exciting about this place. No staff had any enthusiasm or pride about it. The echo in the hallway on the 4th floor was absolutely horrible. It happens between 2:00 and 4 AM. IHG, if they care or have any influence, should have a few of their executives/representatives stay a night or two and then impress upon the local franchise owner what they need to do to present the brand at the level expected of an IHG hotel.

I’ll look for other hotels to stay at from now on. Staff demanded illegal service animal ID tags and created unnecessary stress for a guest with mental health needs We arrived with a white corgi that assists with mental health episodes and PTSD-related needs. My partner has a documented history of behavioral hospital admissions and ongoing mental health challenges. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, hotels are only allowed to ask two questions: whether the animal is a service animal required because of a disability, and what task it is trained to perform. No ID tag, certificate, registration number, or documentation is required. Front desk staff ignored this and demanded to see a service animal ID tag number. When I explained that no such requirement exists under federal law and that I had never been asked for one before, they pointed to other guests who had private (and legally meaningless) ID tags as justification. Those commercial tags carry no official weight and do not create any obligation for guests to produce them. This insistence was not a minor inconvenience. For people who actually live with PTSD and acute mental health episodes, being challenged and pressured over something the law does not require creates real distress and undermines the very purpose of having a service animal present. The interaction left us feeling scrutinized and unsupported at a time when stability and calm mattered. Service animals are not pets, and hotels are not allowed to invent extra hurdles. Staff need proper ADA training so that guests with legitimate disabilities are not put through this. We expected basic compliance with federal law. Instead we got resistance over non-existent paperwork.

Fantastic experience with clean rooms and beach access somewhat close. Key cards to enter the room might fail, but the front desk is quick to fix it. I recommend! 👍

The hotel was always very clean, and the lobby and pool were very inviting. The room was also very clean and tidy, very spacious, and had a mini-fridge and microwave. The mattress is one of the best I've ever found in a hotel. Other hotels often have a musty smell, but that wasn't the case at the Holiday Inn Express. The breakfast is very complete, and the coffee is very tasty. Although the hotel doesn't have direct beach access, it has a very good location, and it's not difficult to get to the beach. I wish the breakfast hours were longer. It ends at 9 a.m., but I think it would be good to extend them until 10 a.m.
