  Tucked way back in a parking lot all by itself. There is a Target, Specs, and a strip mall of sorts within 0.25 miles in the same drivable lot off the Frontage Road. The double queen bed with couch room is huge for the ordinary rental. Clean. We are about 10 feet away from the door leading to the pool (outdoor with hot tub) being on the first floor. Can't do 5 stars because I had to ask for some stuff not in the room, door keys not working on the first tries, but they corrected anything needed, good safe spend

  AVOID. What a catastrophe of a hotel. 10/10 do not recommend. I booked a stay here and was supposed to stay from 07/05/26 through 07/08/26, just myself and two children. Check-in went OK, and we were warned by the associate that the AC was not working in the hallway...but the rooms were perfectly fine. I can't do HOT, especially when I'm paying to stay somewhere. We went ahead and unloaded and headed up to our room - I don't recall the floor or room number because it did not last long. Upon approaching and entering the elevator I could feel the warmth and lack of airflow. Elevator closes and holy crap it was hot - starting to sweat by the time we got to the floor. Hallways to room holy crap they were even warmer. We made it to the room and it was cooler, cranked the air down right away. Upon entering there was an odor, so stagnant that the kids mentioned it right away and were grossed out and wanted to leave. I was trying to look past it and make it work, maybe spray some perfume or something - but then as we were unpacking and I walked back towards our door I COULD FEEL THE HEAT COMING FROM THE HALLWAY RUSHING UNDERNEATH THE DOOR. That was it for me. Myself and the kids returned back downstairs and I spoke with the front desk. The gentleman who checked us in is who I spoke with first, I asked if he could transfer us to a different Holiday Inn within the area or just cancel our stay because we couldn't stay in those conditions. He stated that they couldn't transfer and that he couldn't cancel it, then leaned on who appeared to be the manager beside him. When he started speaking with her, she seemed irritated and he even said "Y'all told me good luck when I started here...so", which speaks volume of the condition they're aware their hotel is in. Clearly, right? This lady told me her name was Bintu, which I'm not sure if that was true, I did notice another location was located on Bintu Dr., so that could have been untrue. Bintu was pretty aggressive at first. Bintu told me they don't transfer stays and that they could not do that. Bintu told me that they couldn't cancel my stay, that the night prior was my deadline. I couldn't accept that unfortunately, I don't know anyone who would. We were offered a different room, respectfully declined. We were offered a different floor, respectfully declined. Due to (1) the heat, (2) the disgusting room and (3) the aggressive attitude I was then getting from Bintu, no way we could or would stay there. Period. Bintu finally agreed to cancel our stay, we were good to go, any pending charges would fall off and confirmed verbally that we would not be charged anything. I asked twice for any sort of documentation stating that and was denied BOTH times, Bintu stated she couldn't provide that - but assured me it would be emailed to me and no charge would take place. Employee and kids witnessed this whole conversation from start to finish. We re-packed out things and got the heck out of there. This was on Sunday, so later on that week I kept attention to my card charges. By the end of the week the charge for (1) night posted. I kindly tried to reach out to the hotel via phone and couldn't get anyone to answer. I created a dispute case with my cardholder based on the circumstances - so that should be taken care of. I found the email of a "manager" for this hotel given in a different review response here about the scenario. Please see this photo for their response. Nothing but disrepect and DISGUST for not only this hotel, but the management staff including Bintu and Roxanne the "manager" who responded via email. This hotel CLEARLY has no integrity when it comes to not only the condition of this hotel, but also the service they provide (or don't provide) to their customers. Stay away. Spend your money at a hotel worth it, where you're valued as a customer. Somewhere that you can actually be comfortable in the environment. Not this place. DO BETTER. MGMT - please process the refund for the charges that should not have taken place. I'll consider removing this review.

  Nice property, great location, excellent breakfast. However, the reception staff is weak and appears to be largely untrained. Inattentive to guests, head down on their cell phone, friends (not guests) standing at the desk chatting, generally not seeming to understand the expectations of working in the hospitality industry. I'm in the area frequently and I've stayed here several times and at other properties nearby. This property is underperforming their peers, so management appears to be lacking.

  We stayed here for a night out in San Marcos. We loved our stay. Staff was nice. We checked out and I didn’t realize till I got home I lost my charm bracelet that I’ve had for over 10 years. My heart was truly broken. We came back up here to speak to a manager and spoke to 3 ladies that made sure I got my bracelet back. So very thankful for them being honest people. I will be back for another stay. 🙏🏽

  The service from everyone was top notch! Clean rooms, great service. The only downside the hot tub was alittle too hot to use and they placed a repair order immediately. If your coming to San Marcos this should be your go to place to stay.
