Shocking service disparity for Spanish tours, broken boat, and severe neglect. I bought tickets at GO RIO San Antonio River Cruises about an hour before closing to take visiting family from Mexico on a Spanish-narrated River Walk tour. In San Antonio, a city that is nearly 65% Hispanic and proud of its Latino heritage, you would expect a major attraction to offer seamless service for Spanish speakers. Instead, what followed was easily the most disorganized, disrespectful, and exclusionary customer service experience we have ever had. 1. No communication & zero respect for our time: We stood in line for the Spanish tour for a full hour. When we finally reached the front of the queue, the staff casually informed us that Spanish tours were done for the night. Their solution? Tell us to walk to the back of the line for the English tour and start all over again. They made no effort to warn anyone waiting in line ahead of time. 2. Blatant double standard: English-narrated tour barges were loading and departing smoothly every 10 to 15 minutes. It was only after a large group of us vocally complained at the booth that management suddenly "found" another boat for us. Even then, we were forced to wait another 40 minutes on the dock, totaling nearly an hour and a half while English tours continuously departed. Leaving Spanish-speaking guests stranded on the curb while prioritizing English groups goes beyond poor logistics; it feels like a deliberate double standard. 3. Unqualified guide & mechanical failure: When our boat finally arrived, our supposed "Spanish-speaking" guide was a Brazilian driver who could barely speak legible Spanish. My family couldn't understand half of the narrative. To cap off the disaster, mid-route the electric boat ran out of battery power and left us completely stranded dead in the water in the middle of the river before it finally limped back to life. Treating Spanish-speaking visitors like second-class citizens in a majorly Hispanic city, and handing them a broken boat with a non-fluent guide after a 90-minute wait is disgraceful. Skip the boat, walk the River Walk on foot, and support local establishments in San Antonio that treat all guests with basic dignity and respect.

The boat tour was great. We really enjoyed it. Before getting in and while waiting in line for tickets a boat driver named Craig (not our boat driver) came up to us and said “I may not have a degree in English but I believe you are standing in the exit.” He said it rudely. We were standing in the exit line to get our tickets but that is where the line has already started. He then came to scan our tickets while waiting on our boat and I was joking and smiling and said no and he said “what ever” rudely and walked away without scanning.

Had a GREAT TOUR GUIDE who drove the boat and spoke about San Antonio and it's rich culture. She spoke of her German roots and pointed out King William area and St. Joseph's Catholic Church where they sing in German on Christmas Eve. There were new statues such as the Aztec Stargazer that was a girl from Mexico. Highly recommend this river cruise for Visitors as well as Natives because many people don't know the interesting History Of San Antonio.

We had such a wonderful experience with Go Rio San Antonio Cruises! The boat was very clean, and the entire ride was both relaxing and fun. My family and I went in the evening, which made for beautiful views along the River Walk. I’ve taken this cruise twice before, but this last experience was by far my favorite thanks to our tour guide. She was absolutely amazing—funny, engaging, and very informative throughout the entire tour. I wish I could remember her name because she truly made the experience memorable! I would 100% recommend Go Rio to anyone visiting San Antonio. One tip: purchase your tickets online before arriving. Buying tickets in person can take a little longer, especially during busy times. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we can’t wait to do it again!
