When you get there, the outside looks nice. You walk into the lobby, and it is gorgeous. They have a sitting area that is rather large, a full restaurant, and bar. We ate breakfast there one morning and it was very good. I didn't go swimming, but what little I saw, it seemed okay, a little small though. The guy at the desk seemed very nice and friendly. He gave us our room key for a room with double queen beds.
As we were stepping out of the elevator on the 5th floor, we see a group of kids running up and down the hallway, unsupervised. Then we looked around and found a bunch of water damage on the doors, walls, and carpet. It was obvious that the damage had been there for a while, but we went on ahead to our room.
At first glance, it looked decent, but rather small. They crammed 2 queen beds into 1 small room with a dresser, desk and chair, 1 night stand, another small table, and a fabric accent chair. I have stayed at lower star hotels and motels that had larger rooms then this place.
We turned on the A/C and it didn't work. I called downstairs to let them know, and the guy told us someone would be up to our room to help us move. We waited 15 minutes and nothing. Fortunately, my husband is an HV/AC technician, so he decided to look at the A/C to see if he could fix it. He managed to get it fixed, and I called downstairs to let them know. The guy told me that he had JUST sent someone up to move us, but would recall them. By now, it had been well over 20 minutes.
We decided to get something to drink and we found the glass cups in the bathroom were DISGUSTING!!! There was old dried food all over the cups. I didn't even bother with the black glass coffee cups. I went out to get food and drinks and dropped the cups off at the front desk. The guy told me he would have some clean cups sent up. When I got back, I found they replaced the glass cups with cheap plastic cups.
That first night, I noticed the seals around the door were bad because there was a BUNCH of light coming in round the door. By the end, I threw a pillow over my head and gave up. I will admit that the pillows were rather comfy and plush. The bed was soft and the sheets and bedding looked clean and was nice. I figured I wouldn't be spending all that much time in the room anyway. I could suck it up and deal with it for 2 nights.
Throughout the rest of our time here, we found more and more problems. My husband, daughter, and son kept waking up sick, but after leaving the room, they seemed to start getting a little better. Someone dropped a pillow on the ground and it was wet when I picked it up. I assumed one of my kids spilled water on the ground and threw a towel where the pillow had been. I stepped on it a few times, but never really inspected the area until later.
The day we were to check out, I started packing up. As I was picking my kids stuff up, I finally realized why my husband, daughter, and son kept getting sick the entire time we were in that room. There was a water leak in the room, and it had obviously been there for a while because MOLD was growing on the carpet. All 3 of them are allergic to mold. That's when I started to snap pictures of everything and realized what a dump the place is.
The carpet had been badly repaired in one spot. There was water damage on the ceiling. The tub had been repaired, rather poorly, at one point. There was rust and calcium deposits built up on the facets and drains. At this point, I pulled the bedding off the bed and checked for bed bugs. Thank GOD! No bed bugs.
Oh and those kids running rampant in the hall were doing it the entire stay. I had to call down to the desk several times. They would clear the hall and a few minutes later, the kids were back out in the hall, unsupervised.
In the end, NO! RUN AWAY! DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH AND SANITY!
