As frequent HIE guests, we were wondering why this HIE had the worst ratings of the five HIEs in the area. Well, now we can tell you. This older HIE is in need of maintenance and still has the narrow hallways and elevator entrances that make maneuvering a luggage cart a bumper car experience with lots of lifting and apologies to other guests. In our room, the sink faucet turns when you try to adjust the temperature and tilts side to side. The lights are not all operable. The carpet smells like 10 day old wine. Only half the building entry way doors we used actually lock, and two of those would not let us in with our key card. The luggage carts are also in need of maintenance, only three wheels worked on the one we used and the other almost fell apart when we tried to move it. Both had rubber trim ripped off that dragged on the floor. Unlike the last several HIEs we stayed in, this one had no water bottle refill station (water fountain) only a water dispenser in the gym... which is accessed off the pool if you go looking because there is no way of knowing. I won't go into the nonsense the front desk help gave for excuses when we offered concerns.

"I had an exceptional experience staying at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Lubbock Central - Univ Area! The location is absolutely perfect, offering quick and easy access to Texas Tech University, local dining, and key attractions. The front desk staff was incredibly welcoming, professional, and efficient during check-in. The suite was spotless, spacious, and very quiet, ensuring a restful sleep. Waking up to their complimentary hot breakfast was the cherry on top. A top-tier hotel in Lubbock that I highly recommend!"
