- CSCrystal StilesJun 28, 20264.0Staff is super friendly. This is our go to spot when when go to Houston. It's close enough to get into Houston, Galveston, Baytown, Beaumont. They are all within a short or an hour's drive for us with out all the inflated prices of downtown Houston or Galveston. I love the full kitchen and full refrigerator. Plus, the outside grills and tables for cooking out. Rooms are always clean and the 24 hour coffee bar is heaven sent. I can get up early come downstairs to the lobby get my coffee fix and enough some fresh air while the husband sleeps in. No making noise brewing it in the hotel room. Would definitely recommend Candlewood Suites chain hotel's. We've been staying with them for year's now.

- MMMarkMar 14, 20263.0I travel a lot. I'm also an IHG rewards member so have stayed at quite a few IHG brand hotels including some Candlewood Suites that were really nice. This one, unfortunately falls short on multiple areas. Yes, I know they're about to undergo some major renovations which are definitely needed. That being said, it's just ok. The pros: Staff: amazing!! Polite and accommodating. The cons: The room: way below par. Our first room had no working TV or phone. We ended up being moved to another room with working TV and phone. Beds: Were not comfortable at all. Door frames: are metal and most were bent in quite a bit by the latch, which gives the impression they've been broken into many times. The hotel itself: Very horrible musty, moldy, mildewy smell throughout. Again, this is one of their oldest hotels, and they are going to be starting renovations soon, so I did take that into consideration. Location: Not bad. Not too far off hwy 146. Not as close to Galveston as I had hoped. It was, however, close to Kemah boardwalk. Kinda hard to get to, especially with all the construction going on right now. Surrounded by several hotels. Overall: 3/5. We only stayed one night at this one, then stayed at another brand hotel nearby the remaining time. I probably would not stay here again in its current condition. After renos, we would have to see.
