Very disappointed with our experience this weekend at the intercontinental IHG hotel in Houston during our volleyball tournament stay. What should have been a fun weekend turned into one of the worst hotel experiences our group has ever had. Our group of 15 was eating dinner at the hotel restaurant while there was a private event happening behind closed doors in the next room. Security came out and complained about our noise level, even though we were simply dining together as a team group. I got up to calmly ask security and the food and beverage supervisor if we could speak with a manager about the situation. Instead of handling things professionally, the security guard, Martin, physically put his hands on me and pushed me away. That immediately escalated the situation and left both me and the rest of our group extremely upset. I then went to the front desk to speak with a supervisor named Jonah, who was unfortunately no help at all. He could not provide us with an actual manager to resolve the issue in a professional or hospitable way. We were shocked to find out there was apparently no true manager on site. Jonah eventually told our group we could leave without paying the food bill. Some people did leave based on that instruction, although we still made sure to tip the servers because they — along with the other restaurant staff — were kind, respectful, and hospitable throughout the situation. We tried to move on from the incident, return to our rooms, and focus on enjoying our volleyball tournament the next day. Later that evening, however, Jonah came to our room, banged on the door, yelled through it that we were being evicted for trespassing, and claimed the police would arrive in 20 minutes. When the Houston police arrived, the story suddenly changed. Officers told us they had been called because of an unpaid bill. We explained the conversation we had with Jonah and told them we were absolutely willing to pay the bill — payment was never the issue. We simply wanted to speak with a manager after the way security handled the situation. Since Jonah had already told us not to pay, we assumed the meal was being comped because of the incident involving security. We immediately paid the bill and also pressed assault charges against the security guard. This entire situation reflects a serious lack of management, communication, and professionalism. The hotel already had our credit card on file, and there was no reason this situation could not have been handled calmly the next morning by an actual manager. Instead, the situation was escalated repeatedly and handled in the worst possible way. We sincerely hope upper management reaches out to address what happened, because to this point we have only dealt with Jonah, Martin the security guard, and the Houston police. This was by far the worst experience we have ever had with a hotel group.

Very disappointed with our experience this weekend at the IHG hotel in Houston during our volleyball tournament stay. Our volleyball club chose this hotel for families, parents, and young athletes to stay together after a long weekend of competition, but the way we were treated was completely unacceptable. Front Supervisor JONAH and Security Guard MARTIN were extremely disrespectful toward our group. The situation escalated when Security Guard Martin unnecessarily put his hands on my friend before he was even upset. This happened in front of parents and daughters who were simply trying to enjoy dinner after the tournament. No paying guests, especially families with children, should be treated this way. The lack of professionalism, respect, and basic customer service from both the supervisor and security staff made what should have been a positive team weekend very uncomfortable. I hope management takes this seriously because youth sports teams and families deserve to feel welcomed and safe when staying at a hotel.

A heartfelt thank you to Pier and the entire team at InterContinental Houston for the thoughtful execution and careful planning of my reservation. I booked two rooms for a very special family visit as I had not seen some of my family members in over a year, and the stay was absolutely flawless from start to finish. A special thank you as well to Kepa for the amazing service in the Club Lounge. His attention and care truly made the experience even more memorable. Thank you again to Pier and his team for making such an important reunion feel so seamless, warm, and special. I truly appreciate the outstanding hospitality!

Our vacation to Houston was wonderful until we encountered Sydney Walker. Her behavior at this visit was disrespectful and rude! She came across as unprofessional and condescending, especially when speaking to employees in front of guests. Her attitude made the environment feel uncomfortable, and it seemed like customer service was not a priority. Her behavior negatively affected our stay, and we will not be returning, even as Ambassador members. Hopefully something will be done to reprimand her so her actions will change!

Pros: (1) Staff are professional, friendly, and attentive throughout the stay. (2) Convenient location for Medical Center visitors when using the hotel shuttle. (3) Rooms are clean and well-maintained overall. (4)Good sound insulation with minimal hallway noise (5) Motorized shades with blackout coverage are a great feature (6) Priced well - good value for an Intercontinental Improvement Areas: (1) Hard product is dated for an InterContinental-tier property. (2) One mattress in our room had a noticeable cave-in (3) Common areas feel small with a very compact pool (4) Adopted the mandatory daily amenity fee: no loyalty points earned, not shown in the room rate, taxed separately, and offers little of value e.g., a $15 dinner credit at the on-site restaurant is not a compelling amenity. (5) water pressure is inconsistent - strong in the sink but very weak in the shower
