  Staying at the Villas at San Luis has been a long bucket list item. We decided for our 21st anniversary was worth the splurge and booked a weekend getaway, including a stay at the villa and Spa services and a celebratory dinner at the steakhouse. The villa was truly lovely, incredibly comfortable, very secluded and private and everything I hoped it would be. The staff was attentive at addressing items we requested. I do feel however though a lack of anticipation of our visit, we had problems that needed to be addressed that disrupted our celebratory weekend that attention to detail would’ve avoided. We were the only villa booked the weekend of our stay. When we got settled into our cabana, we fiddled for close to 30 minutes trying to get our television to work and could not find an attendant anywhere to help. I did finally text Sarah and she came over and determined that we needed to call engineering over so she moved everything over to another cabana for us. The air mister was not connected and again no one was around, so I pulled it over myself plugged it in, but it would not cool because there was no water in the machine. Sarah came by told us she would be refilling it but never did and it stayed empty for an hour until McKenzie arrived and then filled it for us. Being the only guest in the entire villa pool, it would’ve been nice to have a working television and a stocked mister from the beginning. It is September and 100° outside. It is not unreasonable to assume we would’ve wanted the cooling mist. After the afternoon in the pool, we went inside to shower and prepare for dinner and there was something wrong with the shower and it would not cool. It was stuck on scolding. Again we called and they said they would be sending the engineer. It took him almost an hour to arrive and we had to move our dinner reservations because we could not shower and prepare for dinner. He finally came and determined the nozzle was stripped and agreed it’s impossible housekeeping would not have realized that but nobody proactively repaired it so we had to wait while he disassembled the shower valves and put it back together so that we could get ready for dinner. We had to move our reservations and therefore miss the evening show we had planned to see after dinner. The following morning, we’re ready to check out and prepare for our spa services so we called for the cart to be brought to our room to take our bags to the car. We waited 30 minutes and no one responded. So we carried our own back to the car and left them there to head to the Spa. We asked if we could leave our car in the parking space and was told it would not be a problem, even though our services will not be over until after checkout. We went to the spa services and then my husband went to get the car, but our bracelets were deactivated so he could not get out of the gate to get to the car and had to jump the gate and twisted his ankle. We received a questionnaire in advance of our stay, which asked for the occasion and what type of decorations were desired type of snacks were desired, and I did fill it out that we are not eating treats that we prefer fruits and veggies, and that we were celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary yet nothing was done with this information. There were no decorations in the room indicative of a romantic anniversary trip and there was a box of dipped Oreos and chocolate covered almonds. I understand that is standard procedure but if you’re going to send out a questionnaire, allowing guest to request certain treats and decor why not follow through with making the stay memorable what is the purpose of that questionnaire if it was not utilized in any capacity. Again, the staff was very nice and attentive and the room was gorgeous. I just feel like for this kind of money needs should be anticipated and we should not have to do things like carry our own bags and wait for repairs to be done to the facility.

  I didn't like it for so many reasons but I'm not going to list them all, but when me and my wife told the front desk that we were leaving early and the reasons they never offered a refund on the nights that we didn't stay.
