First time to stay here. Needed a room before a cruise and the resort is small rooms have been refurbished and are really clean and nice. The bar downstairs had karaoke last night it was a blast the lady putting it on was so much fun. We didn't eat the breakfast but looked ok it is 16$ a person. The beach is right across the street great location to me. I would stay again.

It's even a pity to give one star, it's the most terrible hotel I've ever seen in my life, it's dirty everywhere, the door doesn't lock(i uploaded the video), the phones don't work, the service is disgusting, the pool is very small, dirty, there were no towels for the pool, the rooms stink, the furniture is old, breakfasts are not included, for $650 per day it would be better to rent a house near the beach for six, I really regretted that we rested here.

The location is great, the service is pretty good, the rooms are renovated but still have outside doors like a motel, doesn't feel secure at all. Elevator doesn't work well, you have to hold down the floor button the entire time to get to your floor or it will not go. The really bad part that got it lowered to 2 stars was the inability of staff to keep the drunks out. We were awoken at 11:30pm to the sound of drunk people fighting & yelling outside our door. We should've known this wasn't a classy resort when we saw the drunk riff-raff & pot smokers hanging out at the lobby. This is just a glorified motel 6. Definitely not worth the $300-400 we spent per night.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I feel obligated to warn others. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Island Resort in Galveston expecting a quality stay, especially as an IHG Diamond member. I paid around $500 for what was advertised as a King Suite, and it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The hotel advertises itself as “renovated.” While the rooms have clearly been updated, it feels like they were furnished with the cheapest furniture available. Everything looked like it came straight from a budget online marketplace, and it definitely didn’t reflect the price or the “resort” label. The refrigerator looked like it was from the 1990s and had a strong rotten fish odor every time it was opened. I can’t say whether a previous guest caused the odor, but I can say that housekeeping should have caught it and made sure the refrigerator was clean and ready before the next guest checked in. For a room at this price point, that’s simply unacceptable. On top of the already high cost, there are additional fees that make the experience even worse. You have to pay a $15 parking fee, plus an $8 “amenity fee” for unlimited water—yet they only provide two tiny bottles that are about the size of a child’s sippy cup. To make matters worse, the parking lot didn’t even feel secure. There was a vehicle sitting there with its windows completely busted out, which doesn’t inspire much confidence when you’re paying extra just to park. I’ve stayed at Best Westerns, La Quintas, and even Motel 6 locations that offered a cleaner, more comfortable, and overall better experience than this hotel. The one bright spot was the staff. Every employee I interacted with was friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. They deserve credit because they were excellent throughout my stay. Unfortunately, outstanding customer service can’t make up for a property that doesn’t live up to its marketing or its price. The experience was so disappointing that we decided not to finish our stay. We packed up, checked out early, and drove home instead. That alone should say everything about how dissatisfied we were. As an IHG Diamond member, I expected much more. Paying around $500 for this experience was extremely disappointing, and I won’t be staying at this property again. I cannot recommend this property to anyone expecting the quality typically associated with the Holiday Inn Express brand.

For starters, I will say that this is not a resort. It does not meet the expectations of staying at a resort. Celeste first start with the room. I will say the bed was rather comfortable. There is no dresser in this room or any place to unpack your suitcase and store in a drawer. Just a table in front of the TV. The bathroom had been upgraded. However, resorts do not have scratchy motel six towels like this one does. Resorts also do not have John Wayne toilet paper. Next, I’ll address the pool. This pool is way too small for this size of hotel. Every day I looked at going out to the pool there were at least 40 or 50 kids in it. Sorry, but I do not care to swim that much urine and there is no adult pool available. Onto the view. Unless you’re on the third floor or higher, you do not have a view of the gulf. About that I would say about 75% of the rooms have a view of the top of the hotels main building which includes 11 industrial air conditioners and five kitchen exhaust vents all blowing heat up to your patio and not to mention the amount of noise. About the parking situation. With tax over $16 a day and this is a flat ground parking lot with no cover and no cameras according to the front desk. They said they had a security guard, but I never saw one. They do not have enough handicap parking to satisfy the ADA requirement. Paying for parking at this location is a total rip off. They charge eight dollars a day for incidentals. I have no idea what that is, but I guarantee you I didn’t get anything. If you’re counting the two miniature bottles of water in the room all I can say is most hotels and motels give you that. Lastly, the restaurant. With tax you’re paying $18 for a buffet which you would normally find at a motel for free. You can walk one block down the street to IHOP and get eggs, bacon and pancakes for seven dollars. I suggest you don’t waste your time or money at this location because I never intend to return to it.
