Room was nice to look at until you get into the details. One being that the bathroom door doesnt close. Kinda a meh issue but mostly looked nice. Front desk was nice and helpful until an issue came up with booking.com 2 rooms booked but only one confirmation number apparently means only one room. Still got a second room and after an unpleasant back and forth with the front desk got it price matched which was nice. For a one night stay its good and would stay again if im in the area for a single night.

I always choose Candlewood Suites whenever I’m in Galveston, and it has consistently been one of the best hospitality experiences I’ve had. The service here stands out in the industry—staff are genuinely friendly, helpful, and make every stay feel welcoming. The property itself is clean, safe, and very well maintained. Everything is in good repair and works as it should, which really adds to a stress-free stay. One of the biggest advantages is the location. It’s conveniently situated right across the street from shopping and just minutes away from a variety of dining options, which makes everything very accessible. The amenities are also a strong highlight. The gym and laundry room are both nice, clean, and easy to use. I really appreciate that the washers and dryers are free, and if you need detergent, it’s available at a very reasonable price in the well-stocked sundry shop. Overall, it’s a dependable place that consistently delivers comfort, convenience, and great service. I would definitely stay here again.

I recently had my second visit to Candlewood Suites Galveston, and once again, it was a fantastic experience. Just like the first time, the staff was nice and polite as always — welcoming, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. The rooms are clean, spacious, and well-equipped, making it easy to settle in whether you’re staying for a night or longer. The kitchenette is a real plus, and the location is convenient for exploring Galveston without being right in the middle of the busy tourist crowds. It’s great to find a place that stays consistently good. I’ll definitely be back for visit number three!

I came from out of town a day early for my cruise in Galveston, and this stay was a huge disappointment. My dad had previously stayed at a newer Candlewood Suites that was much nicer, so we had decent expectations for this one—but this location was not it at all. This hotel is honestly disgusting. I had to switch rooms because the first one smelled like smoke and had hair in the bed. The second room was only slightly better, but still very dirty. There was debris in the sheets, a strong mildew smell, visible dirt buildup, and what appeared to be mold in the bathroom ceiling. The entire hotel smells like mildew, and it seems like instead of addressing the root issue, they’re constantly spraying room freshener into the carpet to cover it up. It doesn’t fix the problem—it just makes the smell worse. The air conditioner was especially concerning. I wiped it down with a Lysol wipe, and it came back black from the vent. The yellow/orange color on the wipe was from food, but the black residue was from the air conditioning unit, which clearly had not been cleaned. On top of that, the front desk experience made everything worse. The staff member was rude and very standoffish. There was no apology and no effort to make the situation right, which was frustrating considering the condition of the rooms. The location also isn’t ideal. It’s not the hotel’s fault, but there are very limited walkable food options—mainly Wingstop, with a Wendy’s and Burger King farther away. Overall, I would not stay here again. Cleanliness, maintenance, and customer service all need serious improvement.

First room was awful. There was mold on the ceilings, and the smell of cigarette smoke in the room. There was also long hair in the beds. The air conditioner vents were filthy. had to switch rooms. The next room was better but it was dirty in all corners. We will not stay here again.
