Burglary.
We chose the Hotel Indigo Downtown Dallas for the location and because we're Elite Rewards members. The room itself was great — my only note is that it didn't cool down enough at night. Otherwise, no complaints; it was as expected.
Overnight valet parking runs almost $60 and is supposed to include on-site security. The hotel notes not to leave valuables in your car, but their website also states no firearms are allowed in the hotel — with no option I could find to check one in.
Imagine our horror at checkout the next morning when valet brought our truck back with part of the door handle missing and the lock punched out. Thieves had also cut under the passenger-side fender to remove the alarm system cable. This was a new, very expensive truck (not that the vehicle's value matters more than the fact it was violated). Nothing was taken except a firearm, clips, holster, and a bag of coins. The truck has very dark window tint, and the firearm itself wasn't visible — it was inside the console.
That morning, hotel staff couldn't reach the security person responsible for the parking area. Later in the week they managed to pull camera footage. To their credit, the hotel was immediately friendly and walked us through how to file an insurance claim and who to contact. But we were later told the firearm wouldn't be covered because we weren't supposed to leave "valuables" in the vehicle — despite the fact that the only reason it was in the car was because the hotel's own policy said not to bring it inside.
We're now on week two, dealing with police, insurance, and hotel management simultaneously. Today, we're running into resistance from hotel management on getting the vehicle repaired, with phrases like "we're not sure that will be covered" now coming up about the truck itself, too. I've held off posting this review to give them a chance to make things right, and I'll update it — for better or worse — soon.
There's no way anyone who hadn't been inside that vehicle would have known there was a gun in it. But a hotel employee did drive it to drop it off. I'm not placing blame yet — but it's certainly on my mind as this investigation continues.

Friendly staff and very clean. Stayed one night but it was great! To be honest my sister and I chose the hotel for the aesthetics and were so glad we did, the interior is so pretty (their interior designer ate). Location was perfect and close to literally anything and everything. We didn’t get to try the food or bar but hopefully will be back. Gym was clean and nice too.

This hotel is in a good location in downtown dallas, they offer valet parking or garage parking across the street (hourly/daily rate). The staff were very friendly from the door to the front desk. The check in process was easy and we were upgraded to a bigger room for my boyfriend’s birthday. Sadly the room looked old, the furniture was chipped, the couch had stains, the toilet was old and had been snaked many times ( you could tell by the marks inside the toilet) the remote in the bedroom did not work. It was overall a gross feeling which made me sad because I really wanted to treat my boyfriend to a nice night in dallas and dinner. The dinner was a success and the hotel view was nice but the hotel room was not. Again loved the staff and new bar but disappointed by the room.

The hotel is beautiful and the beds were comfy and thats where the fun stopped. The bathrooms and hallways are ... cramped to say the least. Not from people, because they are narrow. We were informed the construction stated on the website was complete. The kitchen and room service are fully functioning. Upon check in Edward was wonderful. We were given an envelope with the history of the hotel and the menus for breakfast and dinner. Which we did not look at until hours later. When we were ready for dinner. We were celebrating during our visit and looking forward to the steaks mentioned on the website. Only to find out the menu consisted of salads with the option of chicken, gulf shrimp, or wild caught salmon. NO steak. A Double Bacon Cheeseburger, Smoked Chicken Club, BLT, or Grilled Portobello Wrap. Dessert had only one option Ciabatta Whiskey Bread Pudding. Felt more like a Cracker Barrel Menu not a high end restruant. This is TEXAS the only beef option was a cheeseburger. Thankfully CBD Provisions in the Joules Hotel just a five minute walk away was DELICIOUS! Well worth the walk. Food PERFECT, Staff FANTASTIC. We planned ordering room service for breakfast and watching a movie. We had late checkout and had walked alot enjoying the area the day before. The options were Oatmeal, Avocado Egg Toast, Yogurt and Granola Bowl, Waffles, Egg White and Chicken Sausage Wrap, BLT Egg & Gouda, Everything Bagel Breakfast Sandwhich, or a Main Street Breakfast Plate which had eggs, choice of chicken sausage or sweet and spicy brown sugar bacon, hash browns, toasted sourdough, and seasonal fruit. At 9:00 am we were given the room service number for breakfast from the front desk. When we called we were informed the hotel DOES NOT do breakfast room service. We went down to the restraunt. We were informed they were out of waffles. Running low on alot and were having the kitchen closed. We did not see anyone in the hotel restraunt our first day. Literally three people the second day. They said the FIFA rush is why they were low. We ended up at The Crafty Irishman. We HIGHLY recommend. The full irish breakfast was so incrediably good. We travel OFTEN! We travel ALL OVER! This hotel was not packed at all. We never waited on an elevator more than the time it took to get from one floor to the next. The valet was fast, which was appreciated. One guest was looking for shopping in the area and the staff did not have suggestions. We walked with her for a while. Late check out was a disaster and almost made us late for out next very exciting lunch destination. We were informed our late checkout would be comped.... which made no sense, because we are memebers and late check out when avaliable is a benefit or perk. If you are looking for simply a place to sleep, the beds are comfy. If you are looking for a nice place to eat, drink, order room service, or enjoy a slow relaxing morning before check out, this is not it. Room Service (maids not food) tried to come in before regular check out time, even with the do not disturb sign up. We confirmed late checkout when we checked in. After the disaster that was late check out the maids were blocking the hallway with the cleaning cart. Again narrow hall ways. They were knocking on our door before late checkout time. We had been unable to get into our room after we came back from breakfast because we were not told our keys needed to be reset. We travel alot and anytime we have had late check out we did not have to do that. Unless we requested it at regular check out time.
