About

HotelWedding Venue
At the crossroads where Town Lake meets downtown, the LINE Austin draws influence from both the surrounding natural beauty and the creative energy that fuels the city. Once home to a jazz club that broadcast live on local radio in the late 1960s, the hotel is part of downtown Austin history and holds a cultural legacy within its walls as unique as the city itself. The LINE is centrally located downtown among Austin’s most interesting cultural treasures. Every direction offers something to discover: walk north for a museum day at The Blanton and The Contemporary or ride a bike to the eastside for tacos and drinks on a patio. Stay downtown for a live show at the Paramount Theater, travel across the bridge to the South Congress district or rent a canoe and explore the lake – which also happens to be a river.

Trying to check in on Mother’s Day they don’t have anything online to be able to request any kind of amenities or add-ons to your stay when I called the front desk and let them know it was my wife’s first Mother’s Day. Could they just put a little something in the room front desk was very rude and dismissive. I even suggested a bowl of fruit that says something he said that that had to be ordered 24 hours ahead of time, and there was literally nothing he could do very dismissive very rude. It’s not like I was asking for free. I was more than willing to pay and ask them to charge it to the room ahead of time yet apparently even if you want to order any kind of room service the way he made it seem is you have to order 24 hours in advance which is ridiculous and not the service you’d come to expect from a hotel who considers itself a higher end hotel

God awful hotel. Carpets in the elevator and the rooms are old, dingy, and smell. The rooms don't have an iron or an ironing board. They don't have a dresser for you to put things on top of or in. The windows don't open even just a little bit so the whole hotel has a musty odor. My heat was broken even after a man came to my room at 4 am to "fix it", so I had to take the sheets from the other bed and double up while also running a hair blow dryer to stay warm. Cable didn't work. The pool is supposed to be heated. It was freezing and didn't have pool lights. The hotel is very dark. I mean very dark, you can barely see down hallways. I was in the lobby, trying to get water and I couldn't see where the dispenser button was because it was so dark. This hotel is horribly overpriced. AVOID

Very disappointing hotel, typically stay at the VanSant (which I love) but due to construction congestion tried The LINE. It happened to be during SouthxSouthwest so at close to $500 a night I would have expected much more. The room has stains on the floor and wall, the elevator has frayed worn out carpet, the ice machine was in a dirty mildewy closet, the resturant, bar and outdoor dining options were randomly closed on Mondays/other odd hours. Absolutely would not stay again. Booked Via Chase as an "edit collection" and perks were not given, front desk staff didn't seem to know/care etc. House keeping never came on one day, Overall poor experience for a 3 night stay.

The hotel is worn & battered. Rooms are dated, poorly designed (no chargers or charging outlets near or around the beds/nightstands, crowded seating area and little bathroom space); elevators are small and filthy. Our floor had a leaking sprinkler head in the hallway with a trash can placed underneath it. Hotel lobby has torn and stained cushions for seating and the only hotel lobby cafe that offers coffee doesn't open until 7:00am (business travelers often catch early morning fights). The rooftop bar is situated literally adjacent to the hotel's HVAC system; you can't hear anything but the roar of the machines. I was shocked at the condition, having stayed at The Line in LA, but this feels like they built it in 1970 and haven't touched it since (kind of like ATX-airport). Front desk service was average. The location is excellent if you want access to the bridge/river (the bats put on a show for 1 of the 4 nights we stayed), and South Congress (another bit of a let down) - and that is why I expect the hotel draws a crowd (it was extremely busy Friday - Saturday). I suspect locals do staycations for the pool (which also looked run down to me - no thanks). I paid a premium for the stay, when I got an economy experience, at best.

I paid $2700 for 4 nights (including a substantial number of fees not quoted upfront) and am so disappointed with it. Firstly, the good point, the location is very central, right next to South Congress. Aside from that, it was nothing but disappointment. The service from start to finish was unfriendly and unhelpful. At least smile and pretend to appreciate your guests! The room was tired, dated, and stank of dampness, it was also extremely noisy being right on top of the air-conditioning stack. The lighting in the bathroom made it impossible to see anything. And the wardrobe had not a single hanger! Probably best summed up by my experience on the final morning when it was pouring with rain. The valet told me that they had no umbrellas there so I had to go back up to my room where I would find one, of course there was none when I got up there. So back downstairs I went this time to the receptionist (unsmiling as usual) who rudely informed me that they didn’t have any. I insisted that somebody in the hotel must have one and was then forced to wait 25 minutes for somebody to bring one up!! I paid almost $700 a night for that!!!!
