It’s a pet peeve of mine when small hotels/resorts host special events (a wedding in this case) and then struggle to keep up with normal operations. Waiting close to an hour for salads at dinner, while watching courses be taken out to the event sort of summarized my stay. Things got off to a rough start when trying to book arrival transportation through the hotel, multiple emails went unanswered despite repeated assurances from the reservation staff someone would get back to us. The good: the grounds are lovely. The food was quite good. Some members of the staff were phenomenal (specifically Paula and her boat activities were the highlight of the weekend.) The less good: this is on me for not really paying close enough attention when booking. A lot of the lake activities had extra charges. While incredibly fun, $175 for 20 min of water skiing seems high. Overall, the service was ok but not what I’d expect given the overall cost of the stay.

I recently spent a girls getaway weekend at Lake Austin Spa Resort, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The bedrooms were beautiful and incredibly comfortable — peaceful, well-appointed, and the perfect place for late-night chats and true relaxation. Everything felt serene and thoughtfully designed for unwinding. The massage and facial were amazing — truly some of the best treatments I’ve ever had. The therapists were highly skilled, attentive, and made each of us feel completely pampered and restored. The food was outstanding. Every meal was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. It was ideal for a wellness-focused girls weekend. We also loved the fitness and wellness classes. The instructors were knowledgeable, encouraging, and engaging. Shout out to Kathy who answered all my questions about lymphatic drainage techniques. Overall, it was the ideal spot for a fun girls getaway — luxurious, relaxing, and full of little touches that make you feel taken care of. We left feeling refreshed, reconnected, and already planning our next trip back.

I have been coming to Lake Austin Spa for almost 10 years. This last time was the final down hill moment for my husband and I. Our massage was great but everything else left a really bad taste in our mouth. Especially for $750 for a 50 minute couples massage. I had a hard time getting anyone to answer the phone to confirm our appt. When I finally did- i was treated as if it was an annoyance. I never received an email, phone call, or text ahead of time. Upon walking into the women’s locker room- the towel bins and trash cans were over flowing. I went to get water- there weren’t glasses available, so I moved on. Went to our service, came back down and changed to enjoy the hot tub. The women’s hot tub was shooting water over my head which was far from relaxing. I got out to use the sauna, it was broken. So I went to shower. One shower head worked, the other did not. Changed, went to the sinks- out of paper towels. Found out from my husband the men’s steam room was out of order. All in all- a very disappointing experience as this used to be my happy place. I am sad.

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was frustrating enough that I feel obligated to warn others. I received a gift card and was told by the staff it would fully cover an 80-minute custom massage. However, after I got home, my wife’s credit card—used only to hold the reservation—was unexpectedly charged $147. When we called to clarify, we were told this included a “service fee” and a lunch charge. This was surprising and disappointing. I was explicitly told that food would be included with my treatment, and my wife was encouraged on the phone to have me arrive early for a “free lunch.” That level of inconsistency feels careless at best and deceptive at worst. Unfortunately, the food itself was also underwhelming—bland and not something I would have thought twice about had it not been incorrectly added to the bill. The massage itself also fell short. It was advertised as an 80-minute session but did not last the full time. Additionally, when I asked for deeper pressure, I was told I would need to “upgrade” to a deep tissue massage—something that should have been clearly communicated upfront, not introduced mid-service. To add to the disappointment, I was looking forward to using the sauna and steam room, only to find BOTH were out of service. This was never disclosed in advance, despite being a major part of the overall spa experience. Overall, the experience felt disorganized and misleading, and it fell far short of the relaxing, premium service that was promised. Between the unexpected charges, lackluster service, and unavailable amenities, I would not return or recommend this spa.

We stayed at lake Austin resort and spa for my birthday. When we arrived it was night time so we didn’t really get a good glimpse of the property. In the morning my husband and I took a shower and we noticed mold on the shower curtains. We tried to sign up for the activities and the hike was full and we were in the wait list. I just couldn’t believe that they couldn’t have more hikes through out the day for the price that we paid we were on the waitlist for an activity. Unfortunately our son had a stomach bug and ended up in the hospital. He is a type 1 diabetic and if his ketones are high we need to go to the hospital. We had to leave after our first day. We did end up getting a massage which was amazing, however the spa area was lacking. The sauna was cold and super dusty. It was just all around dusty everywhere. I felt so stuffy anytime I walked around the resort. The food was ok but not adequate for the price. So all around sad trip. I don’t recommend going there because even though we had to leave for a medical reason we weren’t given a partial refund and the manager isn’t very understanding. So there goes $5,000! Joann That’s not true there was only one hike each day that we were there. Denis was completely unprofessional and didn’t respond to my emails for a month. Mine is not the first complaining about your hotel. I just wish I had looked at their reviews before booking.
