  I booked a room with two queen beds 7 months prior to my reservation and when I arrived to check-in, they were completely sold out of the room type that I had booked! And then... they charged me for parking after I had already paid $153 for parking with the parking app that is plastered all over the hotel parking garage. So with the $1500 that I paid for this hotel for 3 nights, I could've stayed at an actually decent hotel... AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS.

  Serious Billing Issues and Lack of Communication Regarding Refund Our group stayed at Holiday Inn Austin Downtown on October 2, 2026, after booking our stay a week in advance through Expedia and prepaying for our reservation. After our stay, we spoke with multiple front desk employees who informed us that a system error had caused us to be charged for a stay that had already been paid for. We were assured that the issue would be corrected and that our refund would be processed within 2–3 business days. However, that timeframe has now passed, and we have yet to receive our refund or a clear update regarding the situation. What makes this matter even more concerning is that each time we followed up about the issue, our friend Stephanie Arias’s card, which was placed on file, was charged an additional $242.13. These repeated charges have caused significant financial concern, especially since we were already told that the original charge was made in error. It is extremely frustrating to repeatedly contact the hotel seeking answers, only to receive no clear resolution while additional charges continue to appear. We understand that mistakes can happen, but we expect a hotel to take responsibility for billing errors, communicate transparently with its guests, and resolve financial issues within the timeframe its staff provides. We are requesting an immediate investigation into these charges, a full accounting of the transactions, the appropriate refunds for any erroneous charges, and a clear explanation of how this happened. We would appreciate direct communication from management and a prompt resolution rather than having to continue reaching out ourselves. This experience has been disappointing, and we hope Holiday Inn Austin Downtown takes this complaint seriously and addresses the situation professionally.

  Cleaning service entered my room even though a do not disturb tag was placed on my door handle. Unacceptable. Also you have to walk around the corner out side of the building to check in because they have no reception. Breakfast is also just processed junk food. Not professional. Not worth it. Only stayed here because it was the only hotel with vacancies, now I see why.

  My team had the pleasure of visiting this hotel recently. We had an issue with our reservation that could have ended poorly having 15 rooms needed. Jeremy and the team handled things and took care of everything! They were polite, efficient, and made everything easy! I highly recommend this hotel if you are in Austin. I will be returning anytime I’m in Austin for business or personal.

  This is a fine hotel, nothing to write home about but good location and free breakfast. The one star review is for service. We had a booked a red eye flight to Austin and knew we would check in early in the morning on the day after we had booked our stay to start, but I used the “Text the front desk” option in IHG’s app to inform the hotel. Upon arrival not only did they let us know that they had gone ahead and cancelled our reservation, but the front desk attendant (Chantelle) was extremely unhelpful and uncommunicative. After almost an hour going back and forth on phone and chat, I was able to get a new reservation- but at no point in time did anyone explain what was going on, why that happened, or how they were updating our reservation. This was an extremely disappointing and stressful situation and so in no way can I recommend this property to anyone.
