Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Amarillo, although there were definitely a few things that could be improved.
Starting with the cons, check-in is at 3:00 PM, but unfortunately our room wasn’t ready until around 3:40 PM. After traveling, we were tired and hungry and had all of our luggage with us, so having to wait around for the room was frustrating.
My biggest disappointment was the jacuzzi, which was actually one of the main reasons I chose the Presidential Suite. Unfortunately, I never got to enjoy it. For some reason, the water in the jacuzzi would not get hot, even though we had plenty of hot water in the shower. The jacuzzi jets also didn’t work. There is also a TV in the bathroom that you’re supposed to be able to watch while relaxing in the jacuzzi, but that wasn’t working either. Hopefully these features are repaired soon because they are a big part of what makes this particular suite special.
Now for the pros, because there were plenty!
Kenly (I apologize if I spelled your name incorrectly 😊) was very nice and pleasant during check-in. TinaLee was also very nice during check-out, and every housekeeper we encountered was friendly and pleasant as well. I really appreciate good customer service, and the staff definitely deserves recognition for that.
The Presidential Suite itself was extremely spacious. It honestly felt more like staying in a condo than a hotel room. There was plenty of room to spread out and get comfortable, especially when traveling with a lot of belongings.
Speaking of luggage, my husband especially loved the luggage carts! He specifically mentioned that they were much better than the typical luggage carts you find at other hotels. Considering how much luggage we had, they definitely came in handy.
Breakfast was your traditional hotel breakfast, but I especially want to thank them for keeping the hot chocolate stocked because I love putting a packet of hot chocolate in my coffee. ☕️
The location was another big plus. Uber and Lyft were usually there within about two minutes, and there is plenty to do around the hotel, which made getting around very convenient. Our miniature poodle enjoyed her stay as well. 🐩❤️
We were quoted around $250 per night for the Presidential Suite versus around $500 per night, so when I heard that price, I jumped on it QUICK! 😂 For the amount of space we had, it was a great deal.
Surprisingly, my absolute FAVORITE part of the entire suite ended up being the shower. That shower was AMAZING! It has multiple shower heads, including one overhead, another on the side and four additional jets toward the bottom. There was plenty of hot water in the shower, and I honestly think I enjoyed that shower more than I would have enjoyed the jacuzzi even if the jacuzzi had been working!
Despite the issues with our room not being ready on time, the jacuzzi and the bathroom TV, I would definitely stay here again and I would absolutely book the Presidential Suite again. The spaciousness, location, staff and especially that amazing shower made up for a lot.
Hopefully they get those few things repaired in the near future because once everything in the suite is working as intended, this could easily be an incredible stay.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Amarillo, and from the moment I walked in, I was disappointed. The customer service was lacking, and the staff showed little enthusiasm or interest in welcoming guests. Considering how much I paid for my stay, I expected a much better experience. I've stayed at less expensive hotels where the staff was far more friendly and accommodating.
The biggest issue was the parking. If you leave the hotel, don't expect to find a parking space when you return. I ended up waiting outside for nearly an hour, hoping someone would leave so I could park. When I asked the front desk about it, all they could say was, "Parking is free," which didn't help solve the problem.
Unfortunately, between the poor customer service and the lack of available parking, I would not choose to stay here again. For the price, I expected a much better guest experience.
