  Spent 2 nights there last week. The balcony suite was fantastic. Employees were friendly and accommodating. But when we went for breakfast, all the tables were used and dirty, nasty. Kitchen folk should have wiped them down between customers and I couldn't find them to ask... so we had to sit at a dirty table, yuk. Hence the 3 stars. Also, the back outdoor patio was gorgeous, but trash was overflowing and scattered about the stone floor.

  The hotel stay itself was very pleasant, however when we had to check out, we left early and there wasn’t anyone at the front desk. So later on, when we attempted to contact the hotel to confirm we were checked out, we could not contact the hotel. Only numbers that repeated everything back to you, or strictly AI numbers that did not transfer us to living people. Their contact systems need serious work.

  This was my family of 4's (2 adults, 12, and 8) home-base for 7 nights. We stayed in the 2-king suite with 1 bedroom and mountain view. The room was the perfect set-up for our family. The main room included a bathroom, large closet, full sofa bed, king bed, desk w/chair and mini bar area. The bedroom included a king bed, closet, 2nd tv, lounge chair, separate AC unit and walk-out balcony w/2 chairs and a table. We had the included breakfast at the hotel each morning. The breakfast attendant worked very hard to keep everything stocked. The food was great every day and had predictable rotating selections of hot food (bacon/sausage patties/sausage links, scrambled eggs/cheese omelets/veggie omelets, biscuits and gravy). They also had a pancake maker, cinnamon rolls, pastries/bread, cereal, and oatmeal packets. The downside to breakfast was that it didn't start until 6:30am, which for a place like Custer where most people are trying to get to the park or sites really early, was a problem. There would be a line of 20ish people every day at 6:30am. The line for coffee took forever because there were only 2 machines that took forever to dispense coffee. The room is also chaotic with the set-up. I HIGHLY recommend the hotel start breakfast at 6:00 am. Parking was fine - we never had trouble finding a spot. The location was great for our home base as we traveled all over the area. We never ended up using the pool, mainly because we were all tired from hiking/exploring by the time we returned to the hotel. Additionally, it was a very narrow pool that was quite busy on the weekends. All-in-all, we really enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay here again!

  We’ve traveled all lower 48 USA states by car. The Holiday Inn in Custer, South Dakota is by far the cleanest, prettiest, most accommodating Holiday Inn we’ve ever stayed in our 50 yrs of traveling. They have unbelievable fresh ground coffee too! Our plans suddenly changed and we had to quickly cancel our 2 upcoming nights. “Larvetta” the manager was so kind to allow us to cancel and reimbursed us 100% for the 2 nights we cancelled. We’ve never experienced such incredible service!

  We’ve wanted to stay here for years and finally made it on the July 4th weekend!! Prices of course, are jacked up but it’s part of the game. The front desk people have been fantastic. Breakfast is plentiful. Plenty of parking. AC works great, deep shower, pool/gym is fine. Great location for going in whatever direction you choose. Plenty of tv channels. Internet works well considering we’re in the mountains and in the 3rd floor. Highly recommend to enjoy the area. We’ll definitely return!
