We used my Anniversary Award night for one night stay and my Husband’s anniversary award night for a second night. We were upgraded to an ocean view room! Our Grand Daughter was with us, so she ate free at the restaurant. We had a pepperoni flatbread to share , and she had the kids’ penne pasta with red sauce. It was all good and the servings were so large. Our server was excellent at dinner. We had the buffet breakfast, and Annette kept us filled on coffee and checked in on us regularly to meet any needs we had. She even offered to go get syrup for our Grand Daughter. The breakfast had a good variety with scrambled eggs, bacon, turkey sausage, french toast, pancakes, pastries, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal and cereals.

Exceptional Stay with Outstanding Service!
We recently stayed here and had a wonderful experience! The service throughout our entire stay was awesome, and the beaches and pool area are fantastic. Every member of the staff we interacted with was amazing.
A special thank you to Michelle for going above and beyond while we were checking in, making the arrival process seamless and welcoming. We also want to thank Annette for providing such wonderful and attentive breakfast service every single morning.
We truly enjoyed our time here and look forward to coming back!

I politely asked the desk if I could check in early. He seemed bothered and said he would let me know as he watched me in the lobby for an hour on. He went on break and I went and checked again and the wonderful woman said yes your room is ready no. The overall condition of the lobby restaurants hallways was not clean. I had feces on my bath towel all over it. I was told by one of the maids that sorry it must have got mixed in with the clean towels it was really a bad bad experience I was really stunned by this. The restaurant closed at 8:00 on Sunday night as a beachfront resort that's unacceptable, they would not answer their phone for takeout orders at the restaurant and said they had the ringer off. I was not having a good experience at this hotel unfortunately. Would not suggest anyone stay there
Very enjoyable time, we had 1 issue the bathtub would not drain. We called frt desk they said they would notify maintenance. We figured it would be a hour or so before they got to us, but no about 5-10min later tap on our door. The maintenance guy was there, his name was Cody Malone very professional and nice at the same time, he fix the drain issue in just a few moments then asked if there was anything else we needed him to fix or look at. We told him that was it he apologized several times for the clogged drain, and told us if there was anything else during our stay please let Maintenance know. He made sure he left no mess and everything was in its right place. This was a great place to stay the food is good and the entire staff is awesome, we will book here again!
On the 10th of July I reserved a room at the Holiday Inn Resort Oceanfront @ Surfside Beach, specifically to stay on and spend our time on the beach, as we have several times over the past few years. Our stay was for the 20th to the 22nd of July. My family and I arrived today around noon and asked if early check in was available. We were informed it was and we were able to check in. After checking in, we started unloading our car and started getting ready to head to the beach that the hotel is on. As we got off the elevator on the fifth floor to our room we were met with the smell of stale beer and a mild smell of marijuana. As we walked to our room we were greeted with the site of trash on the floor of the hallway. While my family was getting ready, I noticed no one was in the lobby from the beach area. I walked outside and attempted to walk down to the beach only to find that the path to the beach was block and there was yellow caution tape up. I walked back into the lobby and asked the front desk if the beach was closed and was told “Oh yeah, they are doing Beach Renourishment but we didn’t know they were closing it.” I was then told that if we wanted to use the beach we would have to drive to a public access point and try and find a spot there.
I was in disbelief. When I called and confirmed the reservation 48 hours prior to arrival no one informed me of the beach closures and nothing on the IHG or the hotel websites mentioned anything about beach closures. The staff member behind the counter said “We had no idea they were going to close the beach.” This was a total lie. While we had no idea that this project was happening, the hotels along the beach were all informed about it. That, and the amount of equipment that was on the beach at the hotel had to have taken several days, if not weeks, to arrive and be set in place.
At this point we had no choice but to leave; there was no access to the beach at the hotel and the public access points were completely overwhelmed.
I called the customer service line and informed them of the situation and they canceled the reservation and refunded me my points. At this point we had to pack all of your stuff up and make the three and a half hour drive back home.
At the end of the day, this situation could have been totally avoided. If the IHG website or the hotels website had a simple warning about the project and closures we would have made our reservations for a different time. But there was nothing, so my wife and I took the week off of work, planned this trip, got our daughter ready to go to the beach, spent a couple of hundred dollars on beach supplies and food, only to arrive and be lied to,“Oh we didn’t know the beach was going to be closed.” This is absolutely astounding. To be perfectly clear, there was NO notice whatsoever; not entering the property of the hotel, not posted on the doors of the hotel, not posted to the hotels website, no email explaining the situation, no phone call to inform us that our vacation may be interrupted during this time frame of renourshing the beach, and last but not least, when we actually CHECKED IN- the staff at the desk still made no attempt to inform us of the closure. Nothing. The hotel had more than enough time and opportunity to tell us what was happening and they made the decision to allow us to drive all the way there, just to find out on our own! So here we are, out a weeks worth of work pay, ninety dollars in gas and anther two hundred dollars in bathing suits and food.
While getting my rewards points refunded was the LEAST that could have been done, it doesn’t make up for the wasted time, money and ruined summer vacation for our daughter. To say we were appalled, disappointed and frustrated would be a complete understatement.
I have attached the photos of the construction equipment that the staff said they had no idea about and the insanely over crowded public access point to the beach.
I would really appreciate it if someone in management would reach out to me in regards to rectifying this experience.
