  Unfortunately my experience with the Holiday Inn Express in Piedmont was not a positive one. On our 2nd night of sleep there, we were woken up by the fire alarm at 5:50am. It continued to ring for 5-10 min. and then was turned off. When I asked the front desk about it, I was told that "the cook in the kitchen overcooked something, sorry". I understand that mistakes happen, but that made for a very unpleasant waking up experience. To follow that up, on our 4th night of sleep, we were hoping to sleep in by asking for a late check-out. At 9:30am, someone started to make noise at out door as if they were trying to use a card to enter our room. My son got up and asked him what he needed. He said "No one is supposed to be in this room." My son said, "Let me assure you, we are supposed to be here.". He said, "This is the 2nd time they've done this to me. OK, sorry about that." He then left, but we could not go back to sleep at that pointe. As we were packing our things up, the power went out in the building, so we had to drag all of our luggage down 4 floors of stairs. When I went to the front desk to make the manager aware of my dissatisfaction with the hotel, all she said was, "Well, I can't make excuses for the power going out. It's out on the whole strip." She did not offer any apologies or compensation for the interrupted sleep on 2 of our 4 nights. I had also requested my room to be made up on the 3rd night and it was not done, so both of our garbage cans were overflowing. The customer service in this hotel was horrible!

  Fantastic! Pulled in at 4am, charged only for 1 night. Checked out at 11am after some much needed sleep driving to Charlotte from Atlanta. Great halfway point too!!!

  Professional and welcoming staff even at 2am Night manager definitely needs a promotion! Excellent location and decent clean rooms.

  Had a long stay here (over 10 nights) and have this place was very nice. They advertise they did a complete remodel, and rooms were new and nice, humongous tv, although never turned it on. Called ahead with some requests and all were taken care of with no issues. Parking lot was full most of the time I was here but in the room it was always quiet and never heard anyone in the halls or in adjoining rooms. Breakfast was always full of guest, and it was a full hot breakfast including a pancake machine. Of course it always had the famous cinnamon rolls and was always stocked. Everything was clean, as a hotel should be. They also had coffee and hot water and tea bags in the lobby 24 hours a day with decent size cups which is quite uncommon. Frequently when they close the breakfast room there are no drinks to be found except in their little overpriced gift shop. Staff was nice, checked in late, because of flight delays and there were no issues. Felt sorry for the guy who checked me in who was still at his post when I left for work mid morning. This place exceeded expectations which was unexpected as suburban hotels in rural areas don't always accomplish. Would stay here again if I never to be in the area. Beginning to think IHG has their act together in all their chains. Marriott and Hilton seem to believe the guest should be grateful for any service the hotel provides to their patrons.
