Ok we flew to SC for some much needed beach time and we stayed at the Westgate, the Friendly front desk staff upgrade our room the minute we checked in. Our suite was equipped with a full view of the OCEAN and all the free sun. Great place to relax in the lazy pool or by the pool where the drinks are cool on a hot day near the socializing pool or you can get some exercise in the lap pool or inside at the Gym. I enjoyed my week stay if you visit this Resort is a clean inviting place to stay . If your looking for a Brunch option try the Blueberry Grill.
Fantastic experience. We got a room upgrade right away which was a first for us! Oceanfront as we booked, and a great view from the 6th floor. I swear it smelled like fried fish every time we stepped outside our hallway and halfway down the hall lol. Had some condensation on the balcony doors. Shower pressure was awful, though it was nice and hot. It turned itself off many times through every shower. Aside from that, I love the location and the amenities. The poolside bar had great frozen drinks and we loved the lazy river. It seemed like the beach access in front of Westgate was less than in front of others, which is nice because it's a bit more private. Didn't bring pets but enjoyed seeing them, since it is a pet friendly building! :)
If you want an oceanfront with balcony room (or book one like I did.. & spoke with gentleman at desk), SPECIFY you don't want the 5'4" high rails on your balcony.. unless you do want that. Also, if you can't walk far (say you threw your back out), don't just let them know at desk & inquire about walking distance to room... Be VERY specific. The view to beach wasn't good due to rails.. or the last Summer fireworks display we happened to be there for on our overnight stay... And, was told they had plenty of options for rooms. Better could have been done when being given our room, per the conversation I had when checking in at front desk. Room was clean though, and bed didn't kill my back more *big plus! Also, waters in the machine close to lobby are $4, I think it was.. wasn't going to pay that. Decided to have food Ubered after realizing that was the only option. Also needed a bite to eat and wanted a little ice cream. Did NOT want to lose my parking spot out front to go to store. We checked in at 7:30-ish. Was a bit disappointed. Served the purpose, but not sure I will be back. If I do come back, I have learned some good lessons....

After driving 10 hrs just to find out our air bnb in Myrtle Beach wasn’t at all what we expected, we were able to book our stay here at West Gate and it was such a breath of fresh air! Beautiful hotel and very clean! Motorcycle parking was right up front in the parking garage, which was very nice and convenient! We stayed for a total of three nights and it was very pleasant. Beds were comfortable and clean and our favorite part by far was the pillows, they were AMAZING! The soap provided in the hotel smelled so good and we absolutely loved waking up in the morning and sitting on the balcony. The hotel is right on the beach with multiple entrances around the hotel for beach access. The entrances even have a water station where you can rinse your feet off after walking on the beach! The laundry room was a perfect touch to our stay where we were able to wash all of our clothes before leaving! The only issues we had was the bar by the pool area says it’s open until 10pm and they closed way before that time which was slightly disappointing. And then also our balcony was covered in sand and we often had to wear our shoes in the room just to prevent tracking in the sand. No huge inconveniences, just simple fixes! 😉
Thank you so much for our stay, West Gate, we really enjoyed!

Spent a week here in May 2026 with my French Bulldog. Had to pay a $150 non refundable pet fee, which for a week was reasonable. Unfortunately, it is the same amount no matter the number of days you stay, so that would definitely be a deterrent for a shorter visit. Stayed in a 1 BR Coastal View on the south facing side of the tall tower. View was excellent from the 16th floor, but the balcony was not completely private because there are rails on one end of the balcony and you can see in the balcony beside, above, and below. Fortunately, no one was ever on their balcony, so wasn’t an issue this visit. Also, there is not a traditional dog relief area beside this building. You are supposed to let your dog go in the mulched flower bed between the building and parking garage. My dog didn’t care, but I was uncomfortable allowing him to go there. I searched for a grassy area and couldn’t find one nearby. The room was nice. I needed maintenance once and someone was sent within minutes. All the staff and guests I encountered were super nice and friendly and the location is fantastic. Parking in the garage is ok until you need to use one of the 15 minute loading zone spots to get your luggage in your car. People park in these spots for hours, even overnight, without being told to move, so I had to drag all my luggage to the elevator on the other side of the garage and then back across to the other side of the second floor to load up. Since I was by myself, this was agonizing. Despite these things, I will be returning for another week in September; this time with my daughter, grandbabies, and the dog and am very much looking forward to it.
