  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An absolute gem on the boardwalk!We recently stayed here and were blown away by the transformation. The recent renovations have completely transformed this property into a whimsical, playfully coastal retreat with a total "Wes Anderson film" aesthetic. The pastel color palettes and mid-century details are incredibly charming and photogenic!Our room was immaculate, completely updated, and featured a spectacular oceanfront view. The beds and pillows are genuinely like sleeping on a cloud. The entire pool deck area is fantastic—we loved relaxing by the pool, floating down the lazy river, and grabbing seasonal cocktails at the lively Tiki Bar right by the ocean.The location is unbeatable. It is just a short, easy walk down to the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel and the main boardwalk attractions, so we rarely needed to drive. Every single staff member we encountered went out of their way to be warm, attentive, and welcoming. We’re already planning our next trip back!

  I couldn’t check in until 6:00 because they had no rooms ready. They were supposed to call me when my room was ready but never did either. Also, I didn’t get my receipt at checkout and have called five consecutive days in a row. They have yet to call me back or email me a simple receipt.

  Nightmarish Stay for Families! Dirty Sheets, Broken Elevator, and Empty Promises. I am incredibly disappointed with our stay at voco The Shelby in Myrtle Beach. We came here to celebrate my baby’s birthday, and it was a disaster from start to finish.Check-in took forever with only one person working a massive line. When we finally got to our room, the fitted sheet on the bed was visibly dirty. To make matters worse, there was no working phone or way to contact the front desk from the room. We had to physically walk downstairs and text them just to ask for clean linens. We checked in at 4:00 PM, and they didn’t bother bringing a clean sheet until nearly 10:00 PM.The next day, we discovered the elevator was completely broken. We were staying on the 10th floor with a baby and a stroller. When we asked when it would be fixed, the front desk rudely replied, "I don’t know." It was physically impossible for us to repeatedly carry a baby, a stroller, and all of our luggage up and down 10 flights of stairs, so we were forced to cut our trip short and check out early.The front desk staff apologized, checked us out early, promised a full refund, and assured us the manager would call us personally as soon as it was processed. We have yet to receive a phone call or a refund.

  Honestly was not impressed at all with everything here, checking in and was expecting ocean front only to get ocean "view" (they never specified over the phone so your beautiful view every morning is the balcony across from you, only way to see the ocean is if you hang off the balcony railing thats held together by 8 sheet metal screws) refrigerator was broken upon arrival, great for diabetics who need to cool their insulin. Or just anyone who wants a cold drink. Elevator smells like mold from the carpet and broken tile in there. Ice machine was broken for 4 days before it was finally fixed. Parking is ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE, i you dont get a front or side parking you are screwed and have to walk a whole block to park your car in the garage, no cameras if that matters to you. Also if a guest rents a golf cart they can take up another parking spot without a parking pass or consequences. Breakfast is not complimentary if that matters to you as well, its provided outside by the pool. I stayed here based on the new good reviews and honestly wished i had done more research, you can honestly get a better deal for your dollar anywhere else.

  My wife and I wanted to get away for a few days to celebrate her birthday and our anniversary, and our stay at Voco The Shelby turned into a trip we will always remember. Sharon, Rachel and Marvin made our stay exceptional from the very beginning. Allison at the tiki bar makes the best frozen drinks on the beach, just be careful, because they go down way too easily! (lol) Shortly after we checked in, my wife received the heartbreaking news that her best friend had unexpectedly passed away. When Marvin and Sharon learned what had happened, the compassion and genuine concern they showed her meant more to us than they will ever know. Every time we walked through the lobby, they made a point of checking on her and asking how she was doing, it was genuine, heartfelt kindness. What was supposed to be a quick getaway became a chance to meet three wonderful people who will always hold a special place in our vacation memories. Most vacation memories eventually fade, this one will stay with us forever. Thanks to everyone for making our stay at The Shelby one we will never forget. We look forward to visiting
