    During a recent overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Mt. Pleasant, we were immediately greeted by a friendly staff member, making for a smooth and easy check-in process. The lobby presented a pleasant atmosphere, and our main-floor room was both clean and well-equipped. Amenities included a comfortable bed, a flat-screen TV, a functional work desk, and convenient features like a mini-fridge, microwave, luggage bench, and closet space. One standout feature was the impressive soundproofing; we didn't hear any noise from neighboring rooms. While almost everything was in perfect working order, we did notice the bathroom sink drained a bit slowly and informed the desk clerk during our departure. Overall, it was a positive experience, and I would certainly stay at this location again.

    This is the single worst hospitality experience I have ever had. If you value your health or basic respect, stay anywhere else. As an IHG Platinum Elite member, I am appalled. THE ROOMS: We were cycled through three uninhabitable rooms. The first two had mold-infested AC units (confirmed by their own staff). The third room reeked of urine. THE SERVICE (KHALA): The receptionist, Khala, is a complete liability to this franchise. Like other guests have noted, she is rude, impolite, and prioritizes her personal cell phone calls, or listening to music, over guests. Furthermore, several guests waited during the evening for her, because she suddenly disappeared. When we politely asked for a sanitary room, she became vile and hostile. She didn't act like a hotel professional. Khala acted like she was looking for a confrontation. She actually shouted at us, admitted she was mocking my wife with a colleague, and told us we could "wait in the lobby until 6:00 AM" if we wanted to see a manager. As a result, my wife started to cry afterwards. Her aggressive demeanor and attitude are questionable. I have video footage of her aggressive behavior, the verbal insults, and the unsanitary room conditions. This hotel is a health risk and the behavior is dangerously unprofessional. IHG Corporate has been notified and will be provided with the video footage.

    I have never been met with such poor attitude in my life as I did with Khala (I think that’s what her necklace said..she would not tell me her name when I asked) ! The aggressive tone and manner in which we were spoken to was so vile. I know if anyone from management or corporate witnessed the behavior Khala exhibited they would be appalled. I can only imagine how many guests have been treated so poorly by her. She makes no eye contact, speaks in an extremely aggressive and rude tone, and won’t put her personal cell phone conversations on the back burner to address guests. Khala is doing a disservice to the Holiday Inn franchise and should not be in a customer facing role.

    I stay in hotels ~48 weeks of the year and this is one I won’t be coming back to. I am supposed to stay a week but I am currently looking for someone else and it hasn’t been 5 hrs since checking in. Hotel is dirty and worn down. Night front desk staff is too busy on her phone to be bothered. I checked in easily, got to the room It’s your typical holiday inn express, worn and dirty. Dirty Kleenex left in the room on the window seal. Bathroom is filthy and smelled terrible. Hair left on floor and in shower. Human waste left in toilet (assuming that’s the smell). Also the floors were disgusting (see attached photo after I wiped it down.) My window blind would not close, therefore all the traffic and lights etc could see in my room. Went to the front desk girl (not the woman who checked me in) and told her about the blinds. She told me “I don’t deal with those rooms”. I’m unsure what that meant but of course there was no maintenance man. I asked for a couple blankets to hang so I could have some privacy, after she huffed and puffed she went to find some blankets. She came with one and said that’s all the had. I went back to my room and took apart the blind to fix it myself since no one could nor had zero desire to help me. Very disappointed. One of the worst IHG properties I’ve stayed at esp the night staff. I’ll not stay here again, and will try to find something else tonight rather than stay the entire week here much less the night. Spend a few extra bucks if you have to and avoid this place, if not make sure to bring shoes and slippers for the shower and probably some cleaning supplies. I shouldn’t be fixing my blinds nor scrubbing my bathroom when I am paying for a “clean” room.

    I has never stayed at a Holiday Inn that was as bad as this one. As soon as I walked in, the cigarette smell was awful and I have severe asthma!! And there was never anyone at the desk!!! I had to wait for a long time. The people in front of me ended up just leaving. I shouldve left them but I thought I would give them a chance. The girl that checked me in NEVER even ask for my ID and she just seemed bothered that she had to check us in!! Once we made it upstairs, our room was dirty, the shower had tons of mold in there. The bathroom floor had dirty shoe prints so obviously it wasn't cleaned. It smelled horrible like there was a dead animal in the closet. The lounge chair in the room was disgusting and dirty. The carpet was also disgusting. Omg, and the seats in the dining area were SO disgusting!!! I would never sit on them!! They looked like they were pulled out of a dumpster!! And the breakfast was not good at all, it was cold, the egg omelets were still frozen in the middle. The bread was hard and old, no bagel cutter and everything looked just filthy!! Would never stay again!! Worst Holiday Inn we've EVER stayed at!! I couldn't find anyone at the desk so I could check out and get a printed receipt!!! I have NO idea how this place has some good reviews!!!
