We stayed at the avid hotel in Fort Mill, NC for two nights because my boyfriend is a truck driver and his truck needed repairs. The Kenworth dealership is conveniently located right across the street, which is why we chose this hotel. Unfortunately, what should have been a convenient stay turned into a very frustrating experience.
When we first arrived on Friday, the room appeared nice at first. We were exhausted from traveling, so we went straight to bed. The next morning, however, we noticed that the sheets had blood stains on them. We also noticed that the walls were filthy and that some of the electrical outlets were not working.
We contacted the front desk, and someone was sent up to clean the room. We left the room so housekeeping could properly service it. When we returned, we discovered that the room had been locked behind us by the male housekeeping employee, leaving us unable to get back inside. We had to go back down to the front desk again.
This is where I want to recognize Diana. She was extremely nice, understanding, and professional. She immediately acknowledged that what happened was unacceptable and said she would speak with the general manager to see if something could be done, such as an extra night or having the pet fee waived. She also moved us to another room, room 514, since our original room was 428.
Unfortunately, moving rooms did not solve the problem. When we entered room 514, we discovered that the sheets were dirty there as well. We contacted the front desk again, and Diana said she would send someone from housekeeping. We waited about an hour and, after no one came, called the front desk again. We were told housekeeping would be notified.
Eventually, we received a phone call from someone who I believe was the housekeeping manager. She told us that housekeeping could not service the room while we were inside. My boyfriend explained that we had no way of knowing someone was coming because nobody had knocked on the door. Had someone knocked, we would have gladly left the room, just as we had done previously. The tone of the conversation came across as rude and dismissive, which made an already frustrating situation even worse.
Later, the same manager approached us outside and told us that she had serviced the room. However, she explained that she only made the bed, provided towels, and took out the trash — she did NOT change the dirty sheets. She also told us that the employee who locked us out of our room was on a 14-day probationary period and that employees are human and make mistakes, but that they were correcting the situation. While we understand that mistakes happen, the overall handling of the situation was extremely disappointing.
Another major issue occurred with housekeeping entering our room. Housekeeping came into room 514 THREE separate times by using their key card without knocking first. This is completely unacceptable and made us uncomfortable. We had to report this to the front desk, and thankfully, they apologized.
For $342 for two nights, we expected much better. Dirty and blood-stained sheets, filthy walls, outlets that didn’t work, being locked out of our room by housekeeping, dirty sheets in the replacement room, poor communication, and housekeeping repeatedly entering our room without knocking is far too much for one stay.
The location was convenient for us because of the Kenworth dealership across the street, and Diana at the front desk was genuinely kind and helpful throughout everything. Unfortunately, the positive experience with Diana could not make up for the numerous problems we encountered with housekeeping and management.
Overall, this was a horrible stay, and we would not return or recommend this hotel based on our experience.

Diana made my birthday weekend truly unforgettable! From the moment I checked in, she went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. She was incredibly kind, professional, and genuinely cared about making my stay special.
She took the time to recommend great local attractions, restaurants, and activities, which made planning my weekend so much easier. Every recommendation was spot on, and her friendly attitude made me feel welcomed and valued as a guest.
Exceptional customer service like Diana's is hard to find these days. She turned a great hotel stay into an amazing birthday experience. Thank you, Diana, for going the extra mile—I hope the hotel recognizes what an incredible asset you are. I would absolutely stay here again because of the outstanding service I received!
